Hey guys! It was a very busy weekend for Mr. Kiwi and I. Early Saturday morning we had a basketball game, then I went to get my new glasses. And after that, we had a meeting with our venue coordinator to see our venue in action.
Previously, our venue had a maroon carpet with an oak leaf pattern slightly fitting our theme, but it was a little distracting. Since they’ve remodeled, the floor now has this pattern…

with blocks looking like this. (I apologize for the blurrier pics, Mr. Kiwi was being rushed.)

Lucky for us, there were two events going on, so we could see two different types of ideas. In the smaller room, there was a 140 person reception. The colors were black and ivory and had a very formal look. The centerpieces were tall tulip arrangements, and very lovely. The sheer overlay was supposed to be ivory, but over the black it ended up just looking silver. I think I would have just used an ivory table cloth over the black.

This is their sweetheart table - it’s up on casters, which I’m still not sure of doing. They had arrangements of roses, hydrangea, and tulips.

This is the cake table, with the alarmingly mouth-watering buttercream smell that dragged me over. The cake has hot pink roses, so it kinda makes it look very different from the rest of the theme.

The other room, the larger one (which is our room) had a 50th anniversary party going on inside - it was touching to see such a sweet sight. Their colors seemed to be gold and ivory.

This is their sweetheart table. They didn’t want it on the stage.

And this last shot of the table has the napkin Mr. Kiwi wants - the “shell” look.
All in all, I think it was a successful meeting, and we’re very excited about our venue. Since we’re getting married in November, and it’s going to be a morning affair, we get to use the bigger room for the rate of the smaller room. We’ll have 15 tables to move around, and it looks like plenty of room, since the anniversary had more than 22 tables. We’re not worried about having two events on our day, LeLani (our coordinator) said we’re the only ones booked, and will most likely stay that way. Seeing the actual tables decorated has made Mr. K want to decorate our tables even more. We’re going to do some experimenting with one of our centerpiece vases, and see what happens. Pictures to follow.
