52 Tips for Bridesmaids

January 10th, 2007 @ 5:15 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

I just bought this set of 52 cards for my bridesmaids…

They have great ideas like shower games, “nuptial novels,” “bachelorette bashes,” and ideas for toasts.

One of my favorites was the “Rescue Kit” which says,

“A good bridesmaid, just like a good boy scout, is always prepared. Have a stash of wedding-day emergency supplies handy in your car or the changing room at the reception location:

  • Cell phone and numbers of important contacts such as the wedding coordinator and best man
  • Written directions and map to the church and reception
  • Needle, thread, small scissors, masking or sewing tape, and safety pins
  • Aspirin, antacid, bandages, bottle of water, and eye drops
  • Extra pair of stockings and clear nail polish for runs
  • Compact mirror, powder, bobby pins, and anti-static-cling spray”

I thought they were super cute and full of fun ideas. I am going to send them to my bridesmaids with their valentines!

Are they playing cards?

I think my bridesmaids would call me bridezilla…

My sister gave those to me when she asked me to be her MOH. They’re cute but I think you have to be careful, some of the suggestions are pretty unreasonable. You wouldn’t want your bridal party to think they have to do all those things.

i found them in the 70 % off box at papyrus and bought a set for my maid of honor as well… she absolutely loved it and made copies of ideas she loved for the other bridesmaids.

how obnoxious! i have been a bridesmaid seven times and i would be really annoyed if any of the brides were so presumptuous to give me a gift like this. it’s like screaming, “please do these things for me, me, me!”

I don’t think they are obnoxious at all. As a current MOH, I think they are great for giving me ideas and reminding me of my traditional duties. :)

eek..AnnoyedBM voiced a worry that I had in my head..
wanted to give my BMs a BM book that I thought was cute - “A Bridesmaid Guide” - but I didn’t want them to think they had to follow everything in the book, especially the expenses! But I was planning on telling them that as I gave it to them..just thought it would be a fun reference guide~

While annoyedBM brings up an interesting point, there are two things that people need to keep in mind when being in a wedding party:

1. The bride is just that - the bride. Get used to hearing “me, me, me.” It’s her wedding day, she’s the center of attention, and that’s how it is.

2. The cards are just ideas, and it’s cute. They are ideas, not expectations. Most bridesmaids want ideas.
