My Fitness Resolution: 2007 Edition

January 10th, 2007 @ 1:02 pm by Mrs. Lemon

Yes, I’ve made the same resolution that many of us made only 10 short days ago… to get back in shape and MEAN IT this time around. Graduate school has led me toward a slothy physique, and I really want to get back to my old gym-loving, sports-playing days. My main problem has been that I have not had a gym or sports buddy to keep me in check, nor do I have a regular routine (like an afternoon commute) that would get me working out at the same time everyday. Mr. Lemon’s gym is far from my home, and even he doesn’t get there as often as he’d like with his long hours at work.

But 2007 is a new year and there’s no more excuses for me this time around. First off, I received a beautiful new iPod shuffle for the holidays, which I’ve loaded up with my crazy JockJams mixes as well as my favorite daily podcasts to keep things interesting. Then, my maid of honor joined me in her fitness quest (although she’s accustomed to running 6+ miles a day) by joining my gym, and meeting up with me after work for classes and just general gym support. And last but not least, Mr. Lemon and I have determined that we’re going to have some sort of fitness competition to keep us in check. We haven’t determined the stakes or the units quite yet, but if you have any creative ideas I’m open to the challenge!

Oh… and I plan to keep myself accountable with a check-in every 2 weeks right here… oh boy I’m in deep!

Miss Lemon, I wish I lived near you- maybe you could help me get my lazy butt in gear! Congrats on getting yourself motivated! I’m glad Mr. Lemon is in it with you. Mr. Kiwi has too much going on for that. :(

Good Luck!

Congrats!! They say after 10 days of routine your body turns the “auto routine” button on.

We’re doing something similar. We have a big trip coming up soon so we’re competing to lose 2 pounds a week each. If we both lose the 2, then $50 goes in the jar. If one only loses 1, then we get nothin! We mark our weight on the calendar everyday. It’s wednesday and I’m already down 1 but he’s down 2… no fair. Men tend to lose weight quicker than women! :( soooo not fair

Just went to the gym myself for the first time this year!

Its so hard to get into a routine and (being in grad school myself) the gym is in a totally inconvenient place for me. But my plan is to get up with FI every day (ug, so early!) and start my day in the gym. This works out well because FI can drag my ass out of bed and make sure I go.

I could have written that first paragraph myself (grad school does indeed make it hard to plan this stuff).

Thus far, I’ve mostly stuck to the plan! We’ll see how things go once classes start.

We also have a goal to get to the gym more. The alarm went off this morning …. and we hit snooze. But we are vowing that we will get back into the routine…

You can go to http://www.sparkpeople.com.

It’s free - you just need to create a login.

It allows you to keep track of the food you eat and your exercise routine.

You earn points for everything you do on the site. You don’t really win anything but it helps to keep you motivated!

And you can find buddies or join “Sparkteams” for additional motivation. There are a lot of “knottie” brides and other bride sparkteams to join.

They have helpful articles and pictures demonstrating different exercises.

If you decide to join, can you put that “HFSTMPZ” referred you? I get points for referrals. (I think it’s somewhere when you create your login. Thanks in advance!!)

It’s almost as addicting as reading weddinbee!
