Two Bridesmaid Dresses

January 10th, 2007 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

As I’ve posted earlier, the selection of the bridesmaid dresses has been a huge decision making process. We have narrowed it down to these two dresses. The dress will be in a pink close to the nectar swatch below.

I like the first one, but that bubble skirt makes me think that it’s kind of a passing fad thing. Don’t get me wrong, I saw one that I loved for my MOH, too, but are they planning on wearing it again? If so, the second one is my choice. :) I love both of them, though.

I like the Dessy dress better, except it has a balloon hem, which I hate, and I think is going out of style, if I’m not mistaken. However, I think it would be a lot more flattering to a range of body types. So–if all your bridesmaids have great bodies, go with the Watters dress. Otherwise, choose the Dessy.

Both are great choices! #2 looks like something they will be able to use again more-so than #1.

And what happened to the other Watters dress you mentioned last time? That was my favorite. I’m seriously thinking of getting it in the raspberry (hey, raspberry!) as a RD and honeymoon dress!

the high wrap waist is really flattering: accentutes a teeny waist and creates a waist on those without one.

I voted for #2 because i thought it was more flattering (sweetheart neckline) and Aline skirt, and it seems more practical (easier to hem than the bubble skirt and more versatile for re-wear)

I agree about the bubble/balloon hem….it’s not going to be around much longer and then they’ll have to pay to get that hemmed off if they want to wear it again.

I love the 2nd one. And your color looks like it is close to the color of my BM dresses!

I would have picked the Watters one but it seems like the Dressy one is more universally flattering because of the wrapping in the stomach region. But if your bridesmaids are in good shape, then do the Watters.

I, too, dislike the hem of the Dessy dress. Plus, I’m just a big fan of Watters in general (my girls are wearing the Watters dress you originally picked…the green one with the wrapped back…#7415).

Top of the first dress, bottom of the second dress. Bubble hems (circa 1988, a hiccup trend that ends almost as soon as it begins) do look dated quickly. Also, I think men are confused by the bubble hem…. they wonder, “is your skirt stuck in your hose”? Classic dresses will flatter and look best in pictures long-term. (Oh, the horrors of late 1980s bridesmaid dresses… Entire websites are dedicated to the subject!)
