The Ultimate Color Scheme

January 11th, 2007 @ 1:48 pm by Mrs. Lemon

“Elizabeth Hurley’s lavish wedding to Arun Nayer will have a dress code. Invitations were sent out to Posh & Becks, Elton John and other celebrities for the wedding in March. The ceremony will take place in both England and India.

Elizabeth demands that women must wear pink saris and dudes must wear orange tunics and turbans. The invitation says that the dress code for other events besides the actual wedding must be “glamorous casual¢¢â€š¬? to ¢¢â€š¬…”glamorous and fabulous¢¢â€š¬?. (courtesy of DListed.com)

Just gald to see my pink and orange color scheme isn’t outta style–yet. But I would never dream of demanding guests wear certain, “fabulous” colors to the wedding! ;-)

sounds like a big old pain in the ass. when did it become so much about having matching guests and not about the guest having fun?

I vaguely remember Diddy (fka Puffy, P. Diddy etc) did a Labor Day Weekend or Memorial Day Weekend party where he asked the guests to wear WHITE ONLY.

piddy does a white party in the hamptons every year.

i remember someone asking this on theknot, and she ALSO asked what she should do if someone shows up wearing something other than what was requested. man, i almost felt bad for her due to the responses … but i didn’t. ha ha ha

This is so very tacky…is it a wedding or a costume party?

In college I worked for a caterer and we catered a party for UPenn’s Law School. Alot of non-indian guests wore saris and the men wore the indian suits in cream and black. It looked really beautiful and I think the students found it to be alot of fun to wear something so decorative and different for a change. Saris are beautiful.

The pink and orange might be much but how different is it really from asking guests here to wear “black tie”?? In indian, saris are the typical dress.

I thought it was generally considered bad etiquette to tell people what to wear on the invitations.

I guess this mostly applies to saying things like “black tie” on the invitations, since, in proper society people should be able to discern what to wear from the time and location.

But still, this is way too much. And I wonder the same thing hm asked, what will they do if people don’t show up dressed like that?

I concur with kp! I’ve never heard of her fiance. Maybe I should Google him…
