A Beautiful Christmas Wedding

January 12th, 2007 @ 11:27 am by Mrs. Blueberry

Recently, a high school acquaintance of mine got married. She and her husband are both in the military, stationed in Korea. They saved up a little bit of money and sent it home to her “adopted mom,” who pulled together this beautiful wedding. Then the couple flew home, had the wedding, and went back to Korea.

I wasn’t at the wedding, but here are a few photos I procured:

The programs in their basket:

Instead of a guest book, the couple asked each guest to sign an ornament:

The obligatory rings-on-bouquet shot. But notice the bouquet–it was DIY!

I love this photo of the bride’s dress. I don’t know who designed it, but it was gorgeous. And guess what? < $200 on eBay!

Their cake table, with the “JOY” letters in front–I love how it was in keeping with their Christmas theme.

I’m sorry I don’t have more of those coveted detail shots to share, but I think this offers a taste of what the wedding was like.

Oh yeah, and guess how much the whole shebang cost? $3,000. Wow! shocked01cool It just goes to show, you don’t have to drop $30K to have a beautiful wedding smiley107

You just have to know what your priorities are. My priority is going to be the honeymoon. We want to spend about $5-$6k total on the wedding AND the honeymoon. I’m not picky.

That does look like a lovely wedding. And, yes, you can have a great wedding for less, you just have to be careful. Our wedding will be 10K or less (probably not much less!) without the honeymoon. And that’s on Long Island, where it is very expensive to get married. Their bouquet is gorgeous–I’m going to DIY my flowers as well. Anyone, even me, can hand-tie a rose bouquet.

I like the idea of the ornaments in place of a guestbook, but are they really going to put those on their tree every year? Cuz if not, that’s a lot of wasted space.

Man, I wish I could throw a wedding for $3K. *Sigh~ that barely gets you a photographer in NYC though…

The ornament idea is wonderful. Beautiful, original, and practical! (They can actually display them proudly!)

$3000? All of us NYC brides are envious of that price tag…

With the reception that we’re throwing three months afterward, our wedding will be about $6k. Having a super-small ceremony is helping a lot! (Not to mention, lowering my stress)
