I’m having a tea for my bridesmaids the day before the wedding, so I’ve started gathering recipes for the menu of goodies that I will make. I originally thought I would make petit fours, but those really need to be made and frosted the day of. So I have moved on to cupcakes, which I can do at least a day before and frost the morning of.
I recently came across CupCakeBlog, and they have TONS of great recipes for cup cakes with more being added every day.
My current favorite is this Pistachio Cupcake with Rose Petal Buttercream.
I am thinking I will pick a chocolate something and a non-chocolate something.
Are you doing anything for or with your bridesmaids the day before the wedding?

We are having manis/pedis and brunch in the spa of the hotel where we will be getting married. Great idea to make cupcakes! I am thinking of getting crafty and making my own invitations to the luncheon as well..maybe cupcakes too!
We are going to tea at the Four Seasons. I have thrown quite a few teas but I don’t think I can spend the time it takes to make everything the week of my wedding.
I don’t know if you’re planning to have sandwiches, but that’s my favorite part of the tea.
A sandwich that I love (and is always a big hit) is pimento cheese. I don’t have the exact recipe, but you start with cream cheese, stir in grated cheddar cheese, celery, red pimento, walnuts, etc.
Other simple sandwiches:
olive, cream cheese, chives
tomato, basil, butter
tuna salad
egg salad
cucumber, butter, chives
I think just mani/pedis, if that. My MoH is my older sister, but all my bridesmaids are fifteen and younger. I think it would be fun to go out and have mani/pedis with them, but my nerves probably couldn’t stand much more. I’ll have other things to be nervous about, right? They’re all really sweet kids though–three nieces, one goddaughter–which is why they’re my bridesmaids. I could make cupcakes for the outing, but I don’t know how much sugar I want to feed them, the volume will only get higher!
there’s a really good curried chicken salad tea sandwich recipe on martha stewart’s website. i made it for a friend’s shower last may and she still talks about it!
Thats one of my favorite blogs - her cupcakes are complicated, but wonderfully fluffy and whimsical - mmmmm quirky cupcakes.
that’s really sweet of you. i like going on that website just to look at the pictures, but baking is another story. i’m thinking just mani/pedi and probably eat out somewhere with my girls the night before.
i completely love chockylit’s recipe’s. my favorite was the chocolate/peanutbutter cupcakes with a caramel glaze and a fried banana disk on top. sooo good. my friend and i want to try the lavender cupcakes soon.
I stumbled across your blog and it makes me all misty-eyed thinking about my own wedding which was a long time ago now.
A pre-wedding tea sounds wonderful! A nice addition to the table would be display teas, which I recently blogged about. Steep these balls of tea in wine glasses and they open up to reveal beautiful flowers (and you can still drink the tea). Wouldn’t that be lovely?
a luncheon sounds very nice - but let’s keep it simple foods so we can enjoy the time together!
