About Mrs. Lime

Mr. Lime and I are currently trying to figure out a third place to register. We’ve got Macy’s and Crate & Barrel (reservation for the Sunday Morning Engagement - check) on the list so far, as we need all the basics since both of us are cheapasses that haven’t invested in real, matching, or quality housewares or furniture of any sort since entering the “real world.” I wanted to add a fun or less traditional registry, but usually atypical = pain in the butt to use. We’re currently thinking maybe amazon.com as I’ve heard good things from friends who have registered there, and it allows us to register for some non-home-related stuff.

Another option I am consdering is Fitzsu Society. We’re not really fine china types (still debating on this one), so we’ll probably get some everyday-ware at the aforementioned stores. However, I’d love a few unique, contemporary pieces as well. The only problem is it’s hard to find a place that has a registry system in place and also carries the likes of Alessi, iitalia, and Droog. Fitzsu has both, and they have two brick and mortar stores in the LA area that are a ton of fun to browse in as well, so I know they’re legit. I have never ordered anything from them online or used their registry system to even give a gift before. Now if only I can find someone with firsthand experience using their registry system…

Have you considered Retromodern.com? They’re a long-standing online shop, with a large brick and mortar store in Atlanta. I think they might be the only Alessi flagship store in the US. They have pretty much everything Alessi makes, and every other 20th century design classic you can think of, or haven’t thought of! And new stuff too. I’m thinking of using their registry myself. Just have to talk the slightly more traditional other half into it.

we did C&B and BBB. We pretty much received giftcards from BBB and gifts from C&B.

For those that love Alessi, they have a flagship store in LA right next door to DIVA but don’t seem to have a registry system. They may be willing to set something up if you ask, but I only want a few Alessi things. In my experience, it’s been better used as a “showroom” to see a lot of Alessi product in one place.

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I had forgotten about Unica Home and Moss (both on the kenziekate list). I have ordered from retromodern.com but didn’t know or check to see if they had a registry.

Ugh. I have been so struggling with this problem too. We’ve started a registry at Macy’s but it is for only the most utilitarian stuff. I’d like to pick a second store for the things I’d really like, but I’d like one that people (read: older, un-hip relatives) have at least heard of, and has a brick-&-mortar store somewhere on the east coast. I love Moss, but I’m afraid it will seem too snobby, even to my fiance. What’s a girl to do? Does anyone know of a more mainstream store that carries similar stuff?

Cute fitzu stuff. =) I think amazon.com might be a better way to go. Just b/c it’s more universal and the return policy is great (just in case). We registered at Macy’s and C&B. Filled most of our needs. We had that same problem with fine china. So what we decided to do instead was register for nicer casual china. Much cheaper than fine china but nicer than box sets. You still get to pick individual pieces. We didn’t want to accidentally break a plate and feel like there goes “$50″. Here is our set: http://tinyurl.com/y6z3yn
Good Luck!

We registered at Amazon (and Macy’s). I anticipate a generation gap in who shops where, but Amazon has been very easy to use, and most of our friends have Prime, so it would be free shipping. Convenient all around.

Have you considered using myregistry.com? You can pick and choose things from any online shop to your registry. I have a BB&B, Crate&B, and myregistry.com- I have added things from amazon, etsy, etc.

Love Fitzu! You should totally register there– most people buy gifts and send them online nowadays anyways, and besides, its the stuff you want. You also already have other options for people to get you the derigeur stuff.
