Flower Dyes

January 16th, 2007 @ 4:28 pm by Mrs. Plum

If you have an atypical color palette for your wedding and/or want colored flowers that do not occur in nature/ are out of season, you may want to look into using flower dyes or color sprays for your floral choices. From black to chartreuse to gold glitter, you can pretty much have flowers in any color you want.

I have found that using flower dye gives you a more natural look than just your basic color spray. My favorite brand is Design Master Just for Flowers dye.

Just For Flowers is the perfect tool to match or coordinate color on all types of flowers while enhancing and keeping the quality of fresh flowers. Just For Flowers is translucent so underlying color shows through, interacting with it, not just covering it. Result- a natural impression of color. Use Just For Flowers to make monochromatic contrasts on red flowers, blending them to rich burgundy hues. Create enriching color shifts such as violet to blue-violet hues. Try Just For Flowers to rejuvenate decorative flowers with a burst of fresh color or as a color glaze to create exciting finishes on baskets, fabrics, glass metallics, plastic, wood and many other surfaces. 12 oz.

Nony Mouse

I’d be worried about that dye transfering from a bout onto clothing. I thought about adding food dye to the water for some of my flowers (they were the wrong color), but you have to have that on hand already to make it worthwhile.

I was totally joking around about this with a friend and a florist at a Seattle Bridal Show! I jokingly said they could dye some flowers blue…and now I see it wasn’t a joke. ;-)

My aunt dyed carnations a beautiful deep red to match my roses in my Biedermeier bouquet. It was awesome.
