Irregular Tables

January 16th, 2007 @ 1:21 pm by Mrs. Plum

Since my venue has odd-sized tables outside, brides typically do not use tablecloths or use the standard ones given to them by the venue (which, btw do not fit properly). This is okay - it’s not horrible or anything, but again, the bridezilla in me insisted on searching for an alternative.

At the suggestion of my venue coordinator, Lisa, I am going to have custom linens made for the outside tables so that they reach the floor. I will rent them out to future brides of the same venue, also upon the suggestion of my coordinator. I have already bought the chocolate brown silk/satin fabric that will be used for the main part of the table (which also happens to be part of their signature colors), but I can’t quite decide what color should be used for the inside of the pleats.

Instead of using the plain fabric for the inside, I think I will use tulle with paillettes to mimic a ballerina skirt.

This is the general idea for the tablecloth.

If you’re planning on recouping some of the expense through renting them out, then using tulle might not be the best option. A tone on tone with a lighter champagne fabric or the same chocolate color might work best because it would go with other types of decor.

aww…that is really cute! wouldn’t you want to pick your own wedding colors? but i guess if it doesn’t matter to you, i like how pink looks with brown (plus, it seems to be a popular color combo as of late). not sure if the popularity will start to fade out though, if you’re considering the value of renting it out.

i personally like any bright color with brown (e.g. turquoise, lime, pink) but i supposed ivory would be safe like fizzy mentioned.

I agree w/ fizzy — to rent them out, neutral colors will be more flexible. Even so, there is plenty of room to decorate w/ your accent colors in linen accessories like napkins, table runner, not to mention flowers/candles. (Hats off to you — getting into the linen renting business sounds like a hassle to me; maybe the next bride at that venue would buy them from you and you could recoup most of your cost without the worry of renting, cleaning, repairing, lining up the next bride (would the venue tell you every time or list you as a preferred vendor?) etc.)

Some of those styles might be a little girly for some grooms? Great for a bridesmaids’ tea or bridal shower, tho.

I think this is a great idea! One thing to consider for renting out, tulle may be a bit of a hassle when it comes to cleaning. I think a pretty diamond white or ivory would be beautiful much longer.

What about a light brown (like a latte) with the chocolate brown? I think that’d be gorgeous.

Hi, I found your blog when I did search on Marie Gabrielle. I am considering having a wedding ceremony and reception there, but I haven’t seen it in person. Is it OK if I ask you questions about the venue? My email is sunjehwang at yahoo dot com. Thanks a lot!!
