3 Times A Charm?

January 18th, 2007 @ 6:12 pm by Mrs. Emerald

So here we go, this is the third pair of shoes I have purchased for the wedding! I don’t know why I was in such a frenzy last month to find the “perfect” pair, considering I have months and months to search. Whatever, it’s never too soon! Initially I was absolutely determined to find red shoes, because my wedding scheme is red, and I liked the idea of red shoes peeking out from under my dress.

But, this is what I found at Carson’s (downtown store closing sale!) for $40! They are BLUE (hence they will be my “something blue”). I am kind of on-the-fence about these though… for some reason they seem a bit UN-dressy to me; like I would wear these to work or something. It might be hard to tell from the pic, but they are pale blue leather, and all the edges are lined with a slim silver border. They are fairly comfy, and I like the fact that they look like D’Orsay pumps (which I love), but have the ankle strap so they won’t flop around or slip off.

What do you say, should I continue my search for something more “wedding-y” or should I consider the shoes a done deal? (that is, until I find the next pair I love…haha.)

I LOOOOOOOVE these. No really. LOOOOVE them. However I think it’s about the whole package when it comes to your wedding day - esp. how they will look with your dress (which i do not believe we’ve seen). Then again - the only time anyone will see your feet is when the garter comes off as the shoes are typically covered, even when your dress is bustled up.

But seriously I love the shoes. Do you have a style name/number per chance?

i love the idea of your ’something blue’ being your shoes!
it’s original (to me at least) and the shows are very classy.

you can dress them up with a pair of sparkly clip on earrings or something.

they probably don’t seem dressy to you because they’re leather instead of satin.

Tali, they are AK Anne Klein “Lola.”

And yes, the fact that they are leather is what makes me feel they may not be “dressy” enough… I did stick them underneath my dress with the blue tips sticking out. It looked kinda nice, hehe… I’ll look for some shoe clips tho too!!

Very cute! But definitely look for something more “wedding-y”. You will only buy fancy wedding shoes once in your life. These types of shoes can be worn anytime. Just my opinion

I think they’re cute and definitely a great deal for $40! I personally would say you should continue looking for the pair that you LOVE ;) but that’s just my opinion…i really liked the CK ones you had in your previous post~

OMG!!! Those are the shoes I posted a looong time ago when i asked if colored shoes were ok!! http://www.weddingbee.com/2006/08/09/open-question-colored-shoes/
My mom did kinda freak out and the consensus was to stick to ivory/white shoes. So what I ended up doing was ordering the same pair in ivory but they were an almost pink/ivory and did not match my dress. So… I DIY’ed it and bought leather dye and dyed them a white color and then sprayed them with a shimmery craft spray to make them look less leathery. I think they turned out exactly the way I wanted. Wish I had a pic to post. Why all the trouble you ask?? I loved, loved the style, d’orsay style, and it had the perfect heel height. Though after pictures and by the end of the ceremony my feet were killing me. I even had the insolia inserts and all sorts of padding all over it, I still got a blister and ended up switching to flip flops for dancing. Sorry for the long entry! I still kept the blue ones though!

oooh maybe you can do a shoe change. wear one for ceremony and then a colored one for the reception?

I would definitely choose comfort over style. You’re talking about a full day of being up and running around, which could possibly include rehearsing and pictures beforehand, and will definitely include hours and hours of standing, walking, and dancing! In the end, the way I keep things in perspective is by asking myself which my guests will remember ten years down the road - how happy we looked, or how awesome my shoes were…
