Family Traits

January 18th, 2007 @ 2:50 pm by Mrs. Apple

A couple of months ago, Mr. Apple’s mommy asked me if I needed anything from Vietnam, since she was going to take a mini vacation there soon. She knew I was having difficulty finding the right qi pao for the wedding, so she offered to help me have one custom made in Vietnam. I was totally floored because anything made there would be fairly inexpensive, plus the qi pao would be cut to my measurements, but most importantly she really wanted to be part of my wedding planning.

Mr. Apple’s mom is one of the most caring and honest people I have ever met - she really has a big heart. Mr. Apple told me while he was growing up, his mother would give gifts to the most random of people every year. She would even give gifts to the postman. We’ve gotten a handful of care packages from her (dark chocolate mints and cookies) and even my mother has received gifts from her already!

After being with Mr. Apple for almost 4 years, I see a lot of similarities with him and his mommy. He has a big heart just like her. For example, the other week he picked up a lost puppy in the middle of the street, dropped by Walmart to get a leash, dog food, and a doggy bowl and brought him home. The next day we were debating what we should do to get the puppy to its rightful owner - post flyers, bring him to the spca, or keep him (haha, jk)!

So with some advice from a friend, he stopped at the local vet and got the puppy scanned for a microchip. Some dog owners have doctors place a microchip in the back of the dog’s neck, so just in case it gets lost, they can locate the owner. He found the owner - she was hysterical on the phone and drove “Sammy” to her office. Mr. Apple = my own little Pet Detective!

Oh man, Mr. Kiwi is almost an exact PHYSICAL replica of his mom, albeit larger. :) Now, in attitude, he’s kinda like her, but more like his brother. I never met his dad, but from what I’ve heard, he’s nothing like him. Oddly, in attitude, actions, food favorites and emotions, I am literally exactly like his mom. EXACTLY. When they say men marry their mom, they couldn’t have been more right!

awww any guy who rescues a dog is a ok in my book!

i feel so much better knowing that my cat is chipped even though she’d never run away, and cats always come back home. i think it’s particularly great for dogs, and only costs around $50.

Oooh, that’s so sweet! My FI’s mom is amazing and sweet, not to mention hilarious, and FI is so much like her, at least in those ways. She’s very much a mom, and he very much not. But other than his mom, and maybe one of his sisters (he has three!) he’s really not much like any of his family.

That was so nice of him to pick up the dog! He could have been hit by a car.

My fiance is a lot like his father. They are both very patient, sweet, good people, EXCEPT when they are driving. My fiance yells and gets very frustrated when he’s driving, and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from until I rode with his dad, and his dad did the exact same thing. Part of me thinks it’s cute, the other part of me does the driving :-)

Laura - good call!

My FI’s dad is a goofy kid still. My FI’s a lot more grown up than he is, but still has the same sense of youthfulness -but a little more mature about it.

He’s a lot like his mom - she’s been an ICU nurse for over 20 years and she’s totally practical and levelheaded. Although she’s a worry wart about some things and FI’s not.

When he’s had a bit much to drink, he sounds like his dad. It makes me giggle - hasn’t happened very often. I can literally count the number of times i’ve seen him genuinly drunk on one hand in 6 years of knowing him. ( adn three of them were in college!)
