Kick Me, Please

January 18th, 2007 @ 2:27 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

Most of my posts as of late have been about others’ weddings, or weddings in general. That’s because I have done *nothing* toward my own wedding. Nada. Zilch. Zip. I think my slump started sometime in October, and I’m maybe just now possibly starting to come out of it. When I was home at KC a couple weekends ago, I went in order to “get the flower girls fitted for their dresses and meet with the hotel to talk about a block rate,” but all I did was sit on my rear and eat my dad’s delicious cooking. bummed I’m not very proud of myself.

I need to motivate myself. I need to focus on my own wedding, my own DIY projects, my own meetings that must be accomplished.

When you’re in a slump, how do you get out of it?

How about one step at a time? Do one small thing today, then another small thing tomorrow. Or something.

Lists. I’m all about the lists. I feel productive just making lists. And then marking them off makes me feel great. I’ve got master lists and smaller lists and weekly lists etc

Also, just organizing space to do things in will get me motivated. Clearing off the craft. . . I mean dinning room table and arranging things so that it’s easy to use helps. Or a stop at a store that gets me motivated - Michaels etc.

Good luck!

Thistleorchid! I do the exact same thing. Clean up and get organized.

If that doesn’t work, I usually treat myself to something nice, like a pair of shoes or some great chocolate truffles.

Lists work for me too. Just looking at the sheer size of my DIY list is enough to get me off my lazy booty and start crafting!

Also, looking at other people’s wedding pictures, Knot bios, and talking to other brides helps keep me moving.

the same thing happened to me (around the same time too) and our weddings are both in the same month! i totally understand. i think once you start on one thing and focus on it, that will get teh ball rolling and you’ll get into the groove again. :)
