Wedding Band Engraving

January 18th, 2007 @ 7:25 pm by Mrs. Hibiscus

My fiance and I have thought long and hard about what we want to have engraved on our wedding bands, and so far we’ve come up with zilch, zero, nada. Everything we suggest to each other is either too weird or too cliche. We want to sum up who we are as a couple, our neverending love and our silly and serious sides in 32 characters or less, all while being unique. It’s quite tough.

I figured we might not be the only ones struggling with this, so I found some sites with ideas. Some suggestions include song lyrics, bible verses, a line from a poem, wedding vows or simply a declaration of love. We’re still not exactly sure what we’ll end up engraving, but these sites sure did get the creative juices flowing.

I saw something cute once…” A deal’s a deal.” :)

2.
Clarecat says:

I am going to put the coordinates of where we met on his ring. I don’t know what he is going to have put on mine, we have decided to have it be a surprise for each other.

michelle says:

we wanted something simple, so we’re going w/ our names and the date of our wedding. that way saves us the worry of whether we’re going to be cliche or not.

Mrs. Bee says:

i’ll stab you with a fork if you ever cheat. hahaha just kidding. we didn’t get ours engraved. :D

5.
Jen says:

Mine reads, “I am my beloved’s…” and his reads, “… and my beloved is mine.” It’s our wedding verse. (song of solomon: 6:3)

6.
Iris says:

Jen - nice one. We were considering “love never fails” but not crazy about the words “never” and “fails”!

7.
Dani says:

Are you still here?

On the weird side for sure. Inside joke with many interpretations.

8.
m says:

We are likely getting “Until Forever” inscribed on ours. I came across it, and thought it was simple yet sweet, and my fiance agreed.

Leslie says:

We are each picking individually what we will have engraved in the other’s band, and it is staying a secret until the wedding. I’m having my nickname for him engraved in his.

Miss Hibiscus says:

We were toying with the idea of playing on the word “favorite”. We always call each other, “my favorite”, “my favorite person”.

So maybe:
MINE: You’re my favorite
HIS: And you’ll always be mine

or something like this on one of ours:
You’ll always be my favorite

We engraved our first names and our wedding date. So we will never forget :)

Angie says:

“We’ll be standing here for the Next 100 Years”… that’s our song… Bon Jovi “Next 100 Years”. We have a “Night Sky Over Hershey, PA” poster with those lyrics on it. The Bon Jovi concert was my b/fs birthday gift to me, it was also our first official date.
We got the poster here: http://www.whatonearthcatalog.com/whatonearth/Item_Personalized-Night-Sky-Poster_HA1712.html .
Good luck! I’m interested in hearing what you choose!

14.
Emily says:

We put in both of ours “The Luckiest”.

It’s our song and we really feel that way. :D

15.
Adrienne says:

We chose “Wrapped in You”. It’s from a Pat Green song that we heard at a concert the weekend we got engaged. DH looked at me and said, This song makes me think of you. So it’s stuck.

LM says:

We put each other’s name, the wedding date, and Mark 10:9. On His ring, he also has a small diamond in the inside, which is suppose to be one of mine from my infinity ring. I gave him my missing piece so it means that his (he) completes mine (me). Ok you can gag now… :)

17.
Angel says:

we had each of our rings engraved to make a single phrase. “finally found” on his, “my cherished” on the e-ring, and “true love” on my band.

sneets says:

On our wedding invitations we used the ee cummings poem “i carry your heart with me(i carry it in”, so our rings are engraved with half each of the final line of the poem. Mine says “i carry your heart” and his says “(i carry it in my heart)”.

oojoy says:

I’m going with “I choo choo choose you” on his. He’s a HUGE Simpson’s fan, so I’ know he’ll love it. I don’t know what he’s putting on mine.

20.
Josephine says:

My husband and I surprised each other with our engravings. Since our rings were custom made, our ring maker told gave us a character limit (roughly 10 words) and we each emailed him what we wanted on the other person’s wedding band. Of course this won’t work if you want your phrases to “match” and if your fiance is a prankster, you risk getting something really weird on your band. But it’s a different take on things.

21.
SoireeLaura says:

Ours say “Put it back on”. Seriously!

22.
Ginger says:

“if you can read this you’re in trouble” ? :-)
We haven’t decided yet. I love the simpson answer above - too funny!

23.
Tim says:

I am trying to see if this is something that is very nice or a bit cliche. “TO MY DREAMGIRL, ALL MY LOVE”. What do you guys think?

24.
Michele says:

I have been trying to decide what to engrave in my guy’s ring and so far all I have come up with is “Your My Heart, My Soul, My Love” but I dont’ know if that will fit or not. We are going to surprise each other with our engravings.

25.
jonesy says:

my future wife is all that i live for! what do you think about “a halo for my angel”

26.
HvsL says:

We just picked out our rings and are debating phrases. unfortunately, he’s about to take the Bar so he can’t think!!
I think I like

Fly me to the Moon (mine)
And let me play among the stars (his)

we met dancing, and we both love Frank Sinatra, swing type music.
I think I may try to talk him into this : )

27.
ann says:

I am putting “lost in this moment” 10-11-08 that is our wedding song and wedding date.

28.
Brittany says:

My fiance’ and I went to Hawaii a couple years back and wanted to get our second matching tattoo, we decided on “mahalo”, which in hawaiian means “Thank you” or “thankful” (for each other or to each other. I was thinking of putting that in his ring…what do you think, or I was going to engrave “Bring it on Home to me” which is our song (Little Big Town), any suggestions?
