Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Wreaths of Plenty

January 18th, 2007 @ 4:44 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Since Mr. Kiwi and I are having a sweetheart table, I’m trying to think of ways to give our chairs a little bit of a private, yet special feel to them. Because we’re most likely going with a rustic feel to our reception, I want an earthy touch to our seats.

It was during one of my daily hauntings of Home Depot online, that I saw pine cone wreaths. Each one is 14″ around and is $9.60 on sale, down from $16.00. They have three types, and I’m having a hard time making up my mind. So, I thought we’d have a vote. I plan to place these on the backs of our chairs, maybe with a banner that says “I Do” or “Just Married,” or possibly our monogram. Keep in mind they are all the same price and size, so it’s just a matter of looks.

Which do you like best?

I always wondered about this because every wedding I’ve been to has the bride and groom at the front of the room. Where will you be that people will see the backs of your chairs?

HC, that may be the only thing about this that I didn’t think of! Huh. I can’t believe I didn’t think about that.

Well, from what I’ve seen at the venue, and how they did different things with the table, sometimes the dance floor is behind it, so they face the tables, but not the dancers. OR, I could just be smack in the middle of everyone! :) Sad? Just a bit. :)

I am LOVING “pine cone with other items”!!! Sooo cute and elegant and “fall”y and perfect!

Hehe and in response to HC’s question…maybe the new Mr & Mrs Kiwi can hold the wreaths in their laps instead! :-D (actually, I have no idea about setup)

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe we should just get ONE wreath? Either that or wear them around our necks like Seabiscuit. :)

I like #1 the best. I’d add a beautiful wide ribbon in one of your colors. I prefer things graceful and simple when it comes to sweetheart tables. I’ve seen too many that look like floral explosions. If you can’t use them on the back, perhaps you can suspend one in the front from a ribbon.

I heartily agree with PhillyM. The other two are a bit fussy and busy. Remember that a lot of “rustic” things are also very simple :)

One wreath is definetely best. It just gets a little croweded otherwise.
