Forbes Top 10 Travel Destinations

January 19th, 2007 @ 1:10 pm by Mrs. Bee

Still undecided about where to go on your honeymoon? Check out Forbes’ list for the Top 10 Travel Destinations of 2007.

Forbes Top 10 Travel Destinations : wedding honeymoon Srilanka srilanka.jpg

Sri Lanka: Best Honeymoon
Argentina: Best Wine Tasting
Dominican Republic: Best Beaches
Ethiopia: Best Adventure Safari
Honduras: Best Snorkeling
Laos: Best Sightseeing
Namibia: Best Family Trip
North Island, Seychelles: Best Splurge
Oman: Best Bargain
Panama: Best Eco-Tourism

These are not what you’d consider “typical honeymoon destinations,” but I’d love to go to Sri Lanka, Ethiopia or the Seychelles. Are you going some place “uncommon” for your honeymoon?

We’re hoping to go to Bora Bora. Just imagine, we’re going to pay thousands of dollars to live in a hut (really bungalow sounds much better, but let’s call it what it is) over the water! How funny is that?

We’re going to the Maldives (Komandoo to be exact). Its a big splurge for us but we’ll be bunking in an overwater bungalow for 10 days! We figured that our honeymoon was the one time where we should really splurge.

We’re going to Argentina/Uruguay. Frankly, I’m surprised that Forbes has Ethiopia up there, since that area is in such a conflict right now.

Wow Emma! That sounds like an amazing honeymoon!

We’re having our post-wedding minimoon in Mackinac (sp?) Island in Michigan, and then our “real” honeymoon will be about 6 months after the wedding, on a cruise…somewhere. :-P We haven’t thought that far in advance yet, lol.

That sounds great, Emma! We’re flying into Cape Town (in just over a month!) and out of Harare, Zimbabwe four weeks later. We’re in the midst of figuring out if, in between, we’re going to Namibia and/or Botswana, or just seeing more of South Africa.

My fiance taught in Zimbabwe for 8 months in the late 90s (with a Peace Corps-like organization) and he wants to see old friends and show me where he lived, and I’m looking forward to it despite the travel warnings.

We went to Australia, but in the past we’ve gone to the Galapagos Islands and on safari in Tanzania and Kenya. I highly recommend all three places for honeymoon destinations.

Mr Seychelles

We went to the Seychelles for our honeymoon in September 2008 and stayed at Mahe and Praslin island. From there we made trips to La Digue, Curieuse and Cousin island. The Seychelles really are amazing. Unspoiled islands with green hills, tropical forrests, and fantastic beaches. Yes, it’s expensive, but your honeymoon is supposed to be a one time experience, right? Although, I’m now thinking about going again for our next summer holiday… This is going to be a costly hobby.
