Petal Cones

January 19th, 2007 @ 5:33 pm by Mrs. Butterfly

For those of you who asked about the petal cones, here is the website where I got the directions.

I used the 8.5″ x11″ paper template, but cut off the bottom square area to make the cones. I got the paper and the ribbons from Kate’s Paperie. You will need a paper cutter, a self-healing mat, and some adhesive. I used my trusty 3M ATG tape gun (recycled from making my invitations).

The only difficult part is trying to glue the cone into place, while keeping the tip of the cone in a perfect point. I found it helpful to first roll the paper into a cone shape. Even though making 20 of these took me several hours, they were totally worth it for that one single photograph of us walking down the aisle, being showered in petals.

I am so glad Mrs. Bee talked me into making it. laughin

That’s adorable. I wonder if you could save time by stapling the ribbon? They have those decorative staples now, you could get them in a color to match or coordinate–when I was making my save-the-dates, I found that I really hated cutting things with a razor cutter. And I bet it would save time. Hmmm. I think I have vellum left over from the STDs…

This may be a dumb question, but how do your guests know to throw the petals on you?

I am definitely going to do these but I was wondering how well your 3M ATG tape gun worked? I am also doing my own invitations and haven’t been able to find an adhesive that works well enough to keep my card stock together. Thanks
