Although we’ve had the movie at home for days (Netflix is awesome!), Mr. Kiwi and I finally watched Little Miss Sunshine. Needless to say, the movie is great! Something else I noticed… the pageant is filmed in the room we’re having our reception! How exciting is that?
Here they are in the foyer where we’re having our bar and guest book table (apologize for the size):

I loved this movie, and I’m very excited to have this bit of “movie history” to attach to our venue. When I asked Mr. Kiwi if we could put “Home of Little Miss Sunshine” on our invites, he said no. Although, I may have to bust out “Superfreak” during the reception.

I heard good things about it, but had no idea how much I would love it until I saw it for myself.

Hahaha, that is soooo cool!!!!! You totally have to have a few inside joke songs/moments/details for the guests who know about it!!
That is too funny! When I was little we had that van…and it broke down many times
Anyways, had to add that my venue is where Will Smith and Jada Pinkett got married! Yay for us!

SO AWESOME! i LOVED that movie! you gotta throw something in about it.
You MUST do something. Play Superfreak, name a cocktail Little Miss Sunshine (mimosas? orange smoothies? lemon drop martinis?), serve lots of ice cream, have a pageant, something. That is too cool.
Our venue is a historic house built in the early 1930s. I’m thinking it would be neat to look into the history of the house and pull in some detail, like art deco details on the cake.

When I saw the hotel lobby in this movie, I thought to myself it looks just like hotel where I am getting married next month. Does anyone know the name of the hotel filmed in the movie? I tried looking it up but I couldn’t find that info.
Sandra, they filmed all pagent scenes at The Radisson Hotel in Los Angeles (Culver City, actually) I assume that’s what you’re asking? A lot of the other shots were filmed in Ventura, CA, too.
that’s such a great movie! if you sing superfreak, i may have to hop on a plane just to witness it!
Miss Kiwi, that is what I was asking! Oh my! I knew it was the Radisson in Culver City. That is where my wedding is going to be next month. You can always depend on a bride to recognize minor details! I knew I recognized the carpeting and wallpaper 
Sandra, it’s too bad the carpeting has been replaced! (You can see the new one in my past post “Venue Pics”), it’s just not the same now!
Miss Kiwi, I don’t mind the changes they made. I actually like it. I saw the new carpet/wallpaper/etc when I went to a holiday banquet in December. It looks nice.
Anyhow, I loved the movie. I thought it was a nice humorous view on a dysfunctional family.
The exteriors are all a hotel in Ventura County (where I grew up). It used to be a Holiday Inn but I’m blanking on what it is now - Radisson??
