My Nests Are In!

They’re so ridiculously cool - they’re made with real dried grasses and have dried flowers on them - all done by hand! It’s crazy to think of how much labor went into each one of these!

I will fill them with some sort of egg-shaped candy. I’m not a huge fan of jordan almonds, so I will attempt to look for an alternative egg-shaped candy. Is it gross if I buy egg-shaped candies at easter and save them til June for the wedding? LOL - I mean, no one will really know, right? It’s not like i’m going to put marshmallow peeps in them… haha.

Try Cadbury Mini-Eggs at Easter time - they are the best!

My FI (a pastry chef) says to check expiration dates. And anything with a filling you should be a little more wary of. HTH

Just keep things sealed until June and I think you’ll be fine! I know I still have candy from my stocking and it’s almost February. Shoot, I’m sure I still have some Halloween candy floating around!

Those are gorgeous.

Have to ditto on the Cadbury Mini Eggs but if you want color, why not go with Jelly beans. They come in so many colors, sizes, and flavors. You can match them to your wedding color and make sure they look right in the nest based on the size that you need. They are available year round but you can get them on sale after Easter.

I bought candy in green at xmas and am using it in April. The expiration date was like 2013 on all of it!

Def Cadbury Mini-Eggs. Cute and speckled and lovely shades of pastels and really tasty. Jelly beans are a bit childish and I think the chocolate with matt shell look of the mini-eggs will look suitably chic. If you can’t get any in the US, email me at my blog and I can send you some over I’m sure. xx

Where did you get your nests Miss Plum?
I’m doing a similar favour. Love the idea of Mini Eggs as Jordans are indeed gross. I was planning on doing the chocolate covered almonds though - are these a bit better? Does anybody know?

Dani - My nests are sold by Williams Sonoma- I think they’re still available online on their website - just google williams sonoma nests or something….

lol - I don’t think the birds who live there would appreciate me stealing their homes to give away as favors at my wedding heheh :)

And gathering 150+ nests might be hard to do!

I covet the nests! If you have any available in the fall, I’d love to buy them!!! They’re $34 for 4 on W-S now, which I’ll give into buying unless I can convince you with my begs to let me buy yours!
