Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Finally, My Dress

January 22nd, 2007 @ 4:47 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

After the not-so-stressful day of dress shopping, I came home with a payment made on my dress. I think that once it has the bottom hemmed (there is no way this will fit me height-wise), I can be confident in knowing that I chose the right dress for me.

Now, without further ado, pictures (from the Casablanca website) of my dress. I don’t have to worry about Mr. Kiwi coming in and seeing it, so no worries there. It is a Spring 2006 style, which I am secretly glad about, since we got engaged in Spring 2006. Yes, I am that lame. The color I will get is ivory, and no modifications on it at all. At first I thought about having a corset back put in, but when I tried them on, it made me look oddly thick waisted.

Here is the front view of my dress:

The back (I love the train):

The beading up close (in person it’s not just clear, it’s a little bit of gold, as well):

So, I have my dress. I also managed to try it on and leave with a modicum of dignity! I adore the neckline, not completely sweetheart, but not straight across either. Now, I need ideas for bustles and veils!

Any ideas?

It’s beautiful! I agree with the french bustle, and as for the veil, I would go with something very simple and maybe fingertip or elbow, so not to take away from the train of your dress!

I’m so happy for you and your dress!

i love the back of that dress! it sorta resembles the mori lee dress that i bought for our wedding. for my dress, i’m doing a french and american bustle b/c the train was just so long. it looks beautiful! (or so i hope, i’m still waiting to do my fitting)

It is so beautiful! And that neckline is the best. I’m having my dress modified to that shape. Just so flattering to the figure.

Congratulations!

GORGEOUS!! I love the train, too! I agree with the French bustle as well. And if you go with a veil, definitely a shorter one to keep the beautiful train visible.

Lovely! I have an ivory Casablanca too, from Fall 2006 (when we got engaged also), the 1843. It has a similar skirt with pleats on the sides–I love the way that looks, almost Elizabethan. It makes my stomach look very flat, with the way the skirt is flat. Yours has more pleats, though. It’s a gorgeous dress. Congrats!

very classically beautiful. it’ll be gorgeous with a french bustle.

i had a fingertip length veil, and had beading down the back of my dress (that was the best part). so i wouldn’t recommend anything longer than a fingertip so you can show off all that gorgeous beading!

You will look so beautiful in your dress! The beading is gorgeous! And you’re right, that neckline is the perfect combination of sweetheart/straight!
