Because of all the hype about Sprinkles…I recently stopped by the store in Beverly Hills, CA. As good as it looks, I was very much disappointed. I think your home-baked ones would turn out much moister and cheaper. For $3 a pop…not worth it.

My supervisor got me sprinkles for my birthday. I think Sprinkles is tasty, but $3 is expensive! =o/

Although I like to stop there every once in awhile, I don’t like any flavors other than the chocolate. They use too much frosting for my taste. Even the red velvet… I seem to like the Cake Doctor recipe MUCH more.

I have to echo the sentiments of the person who said homemade Sprinkles = gross. I like the OG version and the homemade isn’t up to snuff. Even the recipe for the frosting is really off.

I’ll stick to making the trek to the Bev Hills store or pining for the Crumbs cupcakes (I know, I know, I know…NYC peeps don’t like it!).

However, for Dallas readers, BEWARE — the vanilla cake recipe Sprinkles uses is pretty gross. I don’t think I know anyone who likes it. You have been warned :)

I drove 45 min out of my way to try one, and I have to say I was so disappointed. It doesn’t even come close to the hype and I’ve made better cupcakes myself. I will give it this much, the presentation is very nice and mine never look like that but taste is more important to me. My boyfriend was cursing Oprah out because I wanted to try it after I saw it on her show…heheh. :p

I just had my first Magnolia’s Bakery cupcake today (nyc)! It was $1.75 each (cheaper than Sprinkles) but I think I could make the same thing. :)

I LOVE how the owners of sprinkles have put a lot of effort into their design and presentation (the wooden forks and knives they have to are so cool!).

the cupcakes themselves, though, didn’t rock my world. there’s much too much frosting on the cupcakes — so much so that my teeth ached horribly biting into them. i have a huge sweet tooth and can usually eat many, many expensive belgian chocolates. if i were attending a wedding, i’d prefer getting a couple of godiva chocolates instead. still, they are very very pretty cupcakes!
