Gelato Bar

January 23rd, 2007 @ 12:01 pm by Mrs. Plum

Instead of a candy bar, a great idea for a wedding reception is to add a gelato or ice cream bar. Paciugo is one of my favorite places to get gelato - they provide catering services too!

I first got this idea when I went to view a wedding at my venue, Marie Gabrielle. I saw it and immediately thought, “WOW! That is a GREAT idea!”

You can choose up to 4 flavors in a case, and it comes with a full-service attendant who does everything for you!

Mmmmm…gelato! There’s a place in my area that had the *best* gelato but they stopped serving it :-(

This would definitely be one of my favorite parts of *any* wedding! :-D

Aww I would have done that! It seems to be less hassle than setting up a candy buffet, and I know if I were a guest, I’d enjoy gelato more. It’s too bad they don’t have a location in California. =(

I totally want to do gelato and cupcakes at the reception instead of cake, but gelato is not widely available on St. Thomas :(

I’m considering having an ice cream bar with Maggie Moo’s ice cream. They’ll fold in ingredients into your ice cream, so you can make your own flavors! That reminds me…must call for prices….uggh. Here’s the sound of my budget….KA-BOOM!

It looks delicious!! $300 is not that bad if you have the budget for it…i’ve been given quotes of $600 + for venetian hour or other additions..

I’d definitely go for it! I think I’d enjoy it a lot as a guest…but then again, I love gelato/ice cream/etc ;)

We are doing this instead of having a cake. (Hey - we’re on a budget and cake is gross.) The hardest part is picking the flavors!

Do you know that Paciugo gelato is just like any other gelato? It contains more fat than disclosed by their employee or website. It’s not really 70% less fat like they described. It’s also not true that their gelato is made only with whole milk, water, sugar and fruit only. There are food coloring, stabilizer, emulsifier etc. Paciugo is all about deception.
