Wedding Themes

January 23rd, 2007 @ 1:35 pm by Mrs. Peach

Man, last night I spent 1 hour on the elliptical. “To get fit for the wedding,” you ask? Nahhhh, to watch 24! The lengths I go to watch my most favorite TV show… hahahaha. It’s because I don’t have a TV yet, but my gym downstairs has these little personal TV’s you can watch while you exercise. The only thing is you have to keep moving or else the screen will blank out.

Anyhoooo, why do I mention 24?? Because it was one of the themes we were considering for our wedding reception. Crazy, I know. hahaha. But that’s how much Mr. Peach and I LOOVVVEEE 24. In fact, that is one of the few things we have in common. We seriously thought of different ways we might be able to do this, but in the end we decided to scrap it and go with the Southern theme, since we met in GA , I grew up there, and that’s where we’re having our wedding (and most of our guests are from out of town and thought they’d like that).

So I was wondering… do you have a wedding theme? And/or what are some themes you rejected? You know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. ^_^

Our theme is “Autumn”. We never had any other theme, except the Disney thing. Which was quickly denied.. :)

I’m thinking of a French theme, but not sure how to get ideas for this as far as decor/flowers/color scheme. Any suggestions anyone?

We love 24, too. It’s the only show we watch together. What’s up with that guy being Jack’s brother? Why does the most sinister character from last season have to be related to Jack?! The family dynamics are just bizarre. Something tells me the two of them are going to get along even worse after what I saw last night ;).

Theme: Apple (Inc., not fruits.)

We met while working for Apple and well… we’re geeking out on it for the wedding.
Even our photographer is as enthusiastic about them as we are. As more planning gets done, the more I’ll post about it on my lj.

What I want to know more about is your elliptical. What’s it called? That’s a great idea for motivation to keep the T.V. running:)

Our theme is the beach at night. Of course, FI doesn’t even know that we *have* a theme, but no matter!

Ours is “vintage french/asian fusion” haha. nice and complicated with too many things going on, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

All Hail the Power of Bauer!! I love saying that, hehe… I luuuuv 24 too!!

Ours was just snowflakes and stars. Ha! I had a tin from the popcorn factory that was cobalt blue with silver snowflakes and stars and that was the inspiration.

Not very exciting, but it made for easy and beautiful decorating and things I plan to use for years to come!

I don’t have a theme. I even struggled mightily against getting “colors” but it was impossible not to, I had to have colors for the bridesmaids dresses and then I figured I might as well do the invites and other paper goods in the same colors (navy and pale yellow.) I was impressed to see today that JCrew copied my otherwise unpopular wedding colors. I’m a trend-setter! Although mine is pale yellow and theirs is a strong saffron. Nice color, just not mine.

Theme: Hmmm Tropical Scottish? Food wil be tropical as we’re in Costa Rica. We both have a Scottish background though, so we plan on incorporating thistles and the hand binding ceremony. FI even wanted to wear a kilt, but they don’t rent them in his clan’s tartan and we might be goign to Scotland for teh honeymoon and he can buy one custom made for him there. So it looks like he’ll wear it to the Labor Day celebration at his parent’s home for their side of the family after the honeymoon. Makes more sense to wear a kilt in Sept. in New England than it does in August in Costa Rica, don’t you think?

ldsbride- that’s awesome! Please do follow up, my boyfriend, (fiance someday), is Apple-obsessed as well and I would love to see what you came up with! As for theme, we’re pretty much set on winter themes but not Christmasy, I want an unusual color scheme and not the usual blue and silver, but there will definately be snowflakes :)

Funny, my gym has the same machines! However if the headphones stay plugged in, it should stay on. 24 is a good show to keep your heart pumping. Too bad I had to sacrifice Heroes for 24. Our wedding theme is an asian theme. We will have red dragon and phoenix brocade table runners along the tables with potted orchids. Anybody know how orchids ordered from online will turn out? We also have a Gigantic white chinese take out box which will be quite cute!

I think our theme is going to end up being tropical fruits. Our cake has lilikoi (passion fruit) and mandarin filling, and our favors are going to be pineapple shaped cookies that mango/lilikoi flavored. Plus, my dress has beaded flowers very similar to passion flowers (lilikoi), and I think the design will be replicated on a number of things (the invites, cake, etc.)

But, after reading this, I’m trying to think of ways to have a Lost themed wedding. We both love the show, and since the wedding is in Hawaii, where it is filmed, it might make sense. I think our website will at least have links to lists of Lost filming locations on Oahu.
