Junior Bridesmaid Dresses

January 25th, 2007 @ 2:48 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

I am stumped!

I cannot find a dress for my junior bridesmaid anywhere! I feel like I have really been searching too. I’m looking for something conservative, yet really classic on an 11 year old. As I posted about before, we are having all of the dresses made in Thailand, so the dress would be made in the same color as the bridesmaid dresses with possibly an accent color (darker pink or coral?).

Here are a couple of Watters dresses that are the best styles I have found so far. I want them to be a little more pink in color than these pictures.

click to enter - jr. bridesmaid - pick your colors. they’ll send you fabric samples very quickly. the one similar to the left picture on your blog is 115 dollars. if you want to see the dress on a girl, email me - i have pictures of my 10 yr old cousin in same dress, diff. color.

I actually like the two that you have up. Have you tried showing some of the dresses you like to your jr. bridesmaid? At 11, I’ll bet she’d have an opinion. =)

i know you’re the DC bride - as a fellow DCer i wanted to point out that the washington post express (the free newspaper for people who ride the metro) had a wedding guide in yesterday’s edition, january 24th. it’s available on the website too, readexpress.com. Just look for the download print edition.

I think these are super cute…I’m trying to figure out why the photographer/fashion shoot director has her in black shoes though! Doesn’t this strike you as odd somehow? I dunno, I guess buying a special pair of wedding shoes for an 11 year old is probably an expensive venture seeing as she’d grow out of them pretty fast and she might already have fancy black shoes. . . but still!

i looove that first dress! like katerose said, i’d let your jr bridesmaid look at some of the ones you like. i have a 10 year old sister and somehow 5th grade instilled some sense of wanting to be “cool” in her.

haha I totally agree with thistleorchid. Those shoes are so ugly, like those velcro sandals you wear for outdoorsy activities (I don’t know what they’re called).

I really like the dress on the left too.

I had the same problem, as I have four junior bridesmaids (and an adult MoH and a flowergirl, that’s it.) Have you looked at Pegeen? Their dresses might be too conservative, but they’re worth a look:

I’m having my youngest junior bridesmaid (age 10) in one of their dresses, the same one as the flowergirl (but with the colors swapped) but my older junior bridesmaids nixed the dress. Too babyish for them. So my older girls, ages 11 and 13, are wearing the jr bridesmaids version of this Forever Yours dress:

Good luck! You might be best off getting a dress custom made, another thing about kids that age is you can’t do it too far in advance, because they grow!

I like the first dress! But, I agree with the previous comment that said let your junior bridesmaid help choose. I know she’ll have an opinion.

My 12 yo sister is going to be wearing the same dress as the bridesmaids. We bought the smallest size and will be having it altered.

I had the same dilemma - we wanted a dress that was “older” than the flower girl’s, but at the same time didn’t make our 7-year-old Jr BM look too grown-up.

We settled on an Us Angels (style 305) sleeveless satin dress that had the same basic cut as the bridesmaids (a-line chloes from AT), but was not strapless. It worked out great. Best part: we got the dress on eBay, new, for less than $75. Paired the Jr BM ivory colored dress (same color as bride) with an Ann Taylor Celebrations sash in the same color as the BM dresses, and the ensemble hung together very nicely.
