This past Saturday, Mr. Peach and I celebrated our 1 year engagement anniversary. Since we’re getting married in about 2 months, we had actually agreed way before that we weren’t gonna celebrate our engagement anniversary… but I decided to surprise Mr. Peach and take him out since he did so much work last year. haha~
Looking back, I realized I never shared with weddingbee how Mr. Peach proposed to me… so here’s our story:

Short version: The proposal was sweet and simple. I was supposed to eat out at a really nice restaurant with my friend (MOH), but when I got to her place, Mr. Peach surprised me. He proposed to me, traditional, down on one knee kinda thing. I said “Yes!” And then we had dinner and dessert that he had prepared for 3 hours, at a romantically set table for two, with beautiful decorations and music playing in the background.
The more detailed, longer version: After having waited a year (my parents wanted him to be closer to being done with school), my parents gave Mr. Peach and I the green light to get engaged during Mr. Peach’s Christmas visit with my family. So I knew IT was coming soon, just not sure when, which made me super paranoid and suspicious of everything (and watching 24 didn’t help). Also, as a side note, I had 3 pseudo, for a lack of a better word, requirements for a proposal:
1) That it be a surprise (this one would be hard bc I knew it was coming)
2) That it be in a private setting
3) That it be documented somehow
So anyways, about 2 weeks prior I get an email from my friend asking me to go to this event at a French restaurant where they cook 15 dishes and you get to sample all of them. She tells me that her boss had tickets for him and his wife, but something came up so he gave the tickets to her. If it was any other Friday of the weekend that Mr. Peach was visiting me, I would have had to decline, but because he had class on Fridays from 3-6pm, he wouldn’t be arriving into Boston until late night. So I said yes. I was excited, but to be honest, I was a wee bit suspicious about it.
It’s Friday night and I’m supposed to meet my friend at 7:30 at her place to head over the restaurant by 7:45pm. When I get close to her place, I call to let her know I’m here and she runs out. We walk a little bit and my friend checks her bag for the tickets and realizes they’re not there. She’s a bit flustered bc we’re going to be late now, and runs inside and upstairs to her place. It’s cold, so I wait inside, but downstairs. I could hear my friend rummaging through her stuff and then she calls me: Miss Peach? As if on cue, I ask her if she needs any help and she says yes.
So I’m on my way upstairs and notice soft music playing, but don’t think too much of it, bc by now I’m positive that my friend and I are really going to a French restaurant and there’s nothing suspicious about it (except I still think maybe maybe Mr. Peach is waiting for me at the restaurant). I get to the top of the stairs and am about to take off my shoes, when Mr. Peach walks out from the kitchen area, all dressed up and with a big smile on his face. The next few moments are a bit blurry in my mind…
But basically, before I had anytime to say anything, Mr. Peach got down on one knee and asked me to marry him (he didn’t waste a second so I could still be “surprised” haha). Now, to be honest, I can’t remember if I said yes, or just sorta nodded my head yes or what. But I must have expressed some sort of positive affirmation bc the next thing I knew Mr. Peach was putting the ring on my finger.

Then he led me into a room that was beautifully decorated. Mr. Peach had come earlier that day and had been preparing ALL day, decorating the room (with help from my friend and her roommate Lorraine) and cooking the food (the meat took 3 hours!). We had a lovely dinner while Miss Paparazzi took pictures here and there.

To most people’s standards, it wasn’t anything crazy or spectacular, but for me, it was sweet, simple, and more than I could have asked for (and it fulfilled all my reqs! Haha). Afterwards, a handful of my close friends came over to celebrate with us.

*This was Mr. Peach expressing he was broke after buying me my ring.
