My Brother’s Wedding

January 29th, 2007 @ 8:30 am by Mrs. Bee

I took pictures of the parent album from my younger brother’s wedding when I went home two weeks ago. If you’re a super duper old school weddingbee reader, you may remember the story of how he and his wife met. It’s pretty awesome. :)

I’m so curious and can never find an appropriate time to ask so I’ll just go for it now. Is there any specific reason so many of the Weddingbee bloggers (and commenters) are Asian? Maybe that many of you are friends/friends of friends? I don’t care in the least and I don’t think it makes this site any less applicable to brides of other backgrounds, I just sometimes wonder whether I’m not getting something.

kb, I’ve often wondered about that myself. My best guess is that weddingbee originated from and has been heavily advertised on Xanga, a blogging community that is dominated by Asians. As you can see from any polls regarding how readers found the site, a huge number of them mention Xanga.

I agree with you that weddingbee isn’t necessarily “Asian-centric” and is still applicable to brides of other backgrounds. But on the other hand, I think it’d be great to see more diverse backgrounds in the future! =o)

Hello, I HAD to comment when I saw that your brother’s wedding album was done by Colorbox. Colorbox was also my wedding photographer. I can not even begin to tell you how unhappy I am with their service. My engagement sessions went well, I really liked the photographer that did them, he is no longer with the company because he felt it was time to move on. So anyway, a different photographer was assigned to my wedding - he was nice (so I won’t name him - I just have to preface this by saying that I do not blame the photographer for what happened, I blame the studio). He arrived on time and everything seemed to be going well, we took some photos with family and the wedding party before the ceremony began. But it was after the ceremony when we were taking pictures with friends that things fell apart. He was fixing my dress and he looked up at me as he was sweating profusely and said that he needed a moment. Worried, I told him to sit, and some of my wedding guests had to attend to him…my wedding photographer basically passed out and was out of commission for a good half an hour or more. To me, it seemed like an eternity, not to mention it pushed back the wedding time line quite a bit and my reception ended up being very rushed. He was totally pale and for the rest of the night all my guests informed me that he had to rest like every 5 minutes and was not really doing his job (i want to say he did the best that he could in his condition, but on the other hand, this was my wedding day - a day I can never recreate…) Guests also told me that he wasn’t looking very good during the ceremony either. My beef with Colorbox is that till this day we fight about it and they continue to admit no fault of their own…telling me that they cannot be responsible for the health of their photographers and that it was just an unfortunate incident. I would be able to swallow this, but the photographer told me that day that he had been scheduled for 4 other weddings/photo shoots before my wedding that day - so THAT is why I am furious with the studio - they say that is not true, but who am I to believe? My photographer had no assistant either… Colorbox was not going to compensate me in anyway, but after many arguments I got a few extra enlargements. (Not enough in my opinion) A few other things about this company, they may be good, but for some reason, things just keep going bad with my account with them. There’s a lot of other stuff that has gone wrong since then, so I just wanted to warn anyone that was thinking about using their services. I give them a D-! I’m afraid to think of what else is going to go wrong…

I was very touched by their love story. I’m very happy that after couple years of struggling, they’re finally living life together. The wedding looked lovely =) Thanks for sharing.
