My First Floral Trial And My Very Last!

January 29th, 2007 @ 11:58 am by Mrs. Apple

For the past 6 months or so, Miss Plum (my event & floral designer) and I have been tagging emails, sending photos of centerpiece ideas, color swatches, and floral specs. We met up last weekend at a wholesale floral shop to select flowers and vases, so she could create a sample centerpeice for me yesterday. Initially she was going to do two samples for me.

1) one with curly willows, ranunculus, hydrangea, pink and green roses

or

2) mantilla branch (which is a very thick and heavy looking branch) with pomanders filled with the same flowers laid on top of the branch.

But after seeing the beautiful sample she made for me today, there is no need for another. I was in complete awe looking up at my gorgeous centerpiece. She took everything that I envisioned, put it all together and made it even prettier! She definitely has a great eye for design and is so very talented! This will be the exact same table setup including the four small centerpieces with a little variation in the color of the flowers - I’d like to have more green just got give it more pop. Call me the green goober. pleased01

In such sheer excitement, I forgot to take photos of the green silk linens that were part of the table design. It definitely adds a nice touch to the overall look.

Thanks Miss Plum for the nice touch on the napkins, lovin it!

Those are so beautiful! I’m trying to do something similar but I don’t think my florist got the gist of what I was saying. Miss Plum, did you glue those flowers individually? And what kind of branches did you use? My florist is worried that with the votives, it’ll tip over.

Min- I used silver wire to wrap around the orchid stems then I wrapped them around the curly willow branches.

If you want votives, you’ll need to use a thicker/stronger branch like manzanilla branches. Hope this helps!
