In preparation for looking my bestest on double-V-day, I grew out my brows so I could get them professionally shaped. Alright, alright, so I was too lazy and too busy eating free caterers’ food over the past few weeks (more on that later) to hit up my usual threading place in Orange County.
Anyway, since I had fully grown-in brows, I took the opportunity to see a professional. So everyone’s heard of Anastasia, and many have heard of the Eyebrow King. The receptionist at Damone Roberts was a little more cordial, they had an appointment available when I wanted it less than 24 hours in advance, and the salon came highly recommended by a handful of friends who have beautiful brows.
Sarah was the “brow diva” who did my brows. At $40 for a first time visit ($35 thereafer for follow-ups), it’s not cheap, but it was worth every cent. After what felt like adept waxing, plucking, and trimming, she applied some brow powder, gel, and brow highlighter. Now I have been blessed with dark, thick brows (bordering on unibrow if not properly groomed), so I NEVER use brow products. However, her application made me a believer. They just looked so much cleaner, defined, and well…groomed.
Sorry, all, I forgot to take a picture of my freshly-shorn brows. Maybe next time, but don’t hold your breath.
Damone costs a bit more, and he is currently in New York getting ready to open his new shop on 40-something and Fifth Ave. NY girls should check it out when they open.
Oh, and they were playing a U2 mix; no plinky plinky or elevator music here. And that’s more than fine in my book.
