My Dress Is In! Woohoo!

January 30th, 2007 @ 11:27 am by Mrs. Hibiscus

Thanks a bunch to everyone for commenting on the Weddingbee Readers Poll! Now that you’ve all shared, I’ll share a little more! haha. I picked up my dress yesterday, and I remember the reasons I fell in love with it the first time I tried it on.

1. The corset makes me look a little thinner
2. The fabric is gorgeous and light
3. It kinda makes me look thinner
4. The detail and the pick-ups on the skirt are amazing
5. It’s quite slimming now that I think about it
6. It’s exactly how I pictured my dress to be
7. Did I mention the corset?

Excuse my strange smile and my lack of make-up, please. So many brides say that when posting pictures of themselves during dress fittings. Weird. It’s like a curse or something. (I didn’t post pictures in the post because my fiance checks this site every now and then.)

Okay, so my wedding is on the beach, and it’s not exactly a beachy dress. I have a couple of questions I need help with.

1. Do you think I still need crinoline? I’m not wearing any in the pictures.
2. Should I chop off some of the train to make it a sweep train (so it extends just slightly beyond the dress)? I’m seriously leaning in this direction because I don’t want to bustle it since the back is already bustled and I’m dreading the train on the beach.

Thoughts?

You might need a crinoline so it doesn’t fold in on the bottom. Can you try one on at the store?

The dress is beautiful! My dress doesn’t have a built in corset, I Was thinking about getting one to wear underneath, but wonder if it will be bulky.

I think the dress looks beautiful the way it is! And I love the corset (hoping that my corset will make me look as slim as you do).

I think crinoline might be too much on the beach. Maybe the dress will look fuller once it’s pressed and blown out - or, maybe you can get a light slip just to keep the static from building up!

Grogeous dress and it looks beautiful on you!! I think it might work better for the beach with a shorter train, plus I don’t think you would miss it.

Your dress looks great on you! I don’t think you need a crinoline, especially since it’s on the beach. A crinoline might not be very comfortable in that setting. As long as the dress gets altered correctly, you shouldnt have too much of a problem with the dragging or folding, I think.

As for the train, I think you should do whatever you’re comfortable with. If you think the long train will be a hassle on the beach, then trim it down. I think it’ll look great either way.

I think your dress looks beautiful on you, therefore you shouldn’t change a thing!

It looks gorgeous! I wouldn’t add a crinoline, but that’s just my 2c. Alterations should take care of any length issues.

That place looks familiar. Is that Jinny’s Bridal in Huntington Beach? That’s where I bought my wedding dress, too!

I think it is nice the way it is but speaking from outdoor wedding experience-be sure to be as comfortable as you can. I don’t think you really need a crinoline and trust me, carrying around a dress with a shorter train is much easier and you feel much more freedom of movement.

Very flattering. Crinnoline would look nice.

Reminder to all of us — Cut those little hanger-friendly ribbon loops from under the armpits so they aren’t dangling out of the wedding gown all day!

My dress is sort of similar - it has a corset too, but it’s sort of hidden. It has a train as well, though, and I’m getting married on the beach. But I like the train! So, I’m just going to drag it in the sand without reservation. I’ll get it cleaned afterwards. It’s not dirt, at least…

Here’s my dress:

I don’t think a crinoline is neccessary, and it might even be hot.

I don’t think a crinoline would be necessary with your dress, it’s beautiful as it!

First, I love love love this dress! I love the “wrap” thing at the waist…so it doesn’t go from beaded to bustled, it has a break sort of!
Second, I would trim the train a bit…just because it’s a beach wedding, not because I don’t like the long train :)

So very pretty! Doing what you think is most comfortable is the key, of course, but if it were me I would probaby shorten the train, just because it’ll be on the beach.

I think it looks great without crinoline. It’s gives it more of a beachy feel. I’d shorten the train though.
