More On Jewelry

January 31st, 2007 @ 1:52 pm by Mrs. Plumeria

… but this time, for me! I have pretty much narrowed down my choices for my wedding day jewelry, but I could use some input as to which earrings I should wear.

To pay tribute to Mr. Plumeria’s and my collective nerdiness, I was almost going to wear this…

Fellow Tolkien fans unite! :) But then, it ended up looking a little odd because I’ll be wearing a straight-across neckline, and the Evenstar, even the mini version above, is too large, especially on my small frame.

So, here’s my (slightly more classy, I’ll admit) necklace: a simple pearl pendant with tiny diamond accents, something I will definitely wear again after the wedding.

And here are my earring choices:

1. The matching earrings, which complement the necklace exactly.

2. A more sparkly, more dangly set of earrings that are a bit more dressy.

I’m having a hard time deciding between these two. I like the second pair more, but wonder if it contrasts too much with the necklace. But if I go for the matching pair of earrings, is that too matchy-matchy? Is anyone else wearing a necklace similar to mine? What type of earrings are you planning to wear?

I vote for the first set of earrings. Where did you get them, btw? They are really cute.

I would definitely wear the matching earrings. The second pair doesn’t seem to go as well with the gorgeous necklace.

I joked to my fiance that I would wear the star or Erywn…When we were looking at wedding bands, my FH found a LOTR replica with the inscriptions….he didnt get it, but i loved it!

I would say….wear both! You could wear the matching pearl earrings for the ceremony and switch to the dangly, fun ones for the reception.

Hahaha, yes they sell the Arwen’s Evenstar. Mr. Plumeria bought the miniature version from http://www.noblecollection.com for me (they also carry Arwen’s butterfly necklace and tiara, which are very pretty as well). He was actually somewhat disappointed that it didn’t work out that I could wear it, but I think even as whimsical as it would be if I did, I might regret it later on. The timelessness of the pearl is a big pro in this case.

Chrissie, I got all of the above jewelry at Sterling Works. The pearl set, though, is white gold with diamonds (despite the store’s name, they do have a small selection of white gold pieces, wait for the 60% off sales). The second pair of earrings is sterling silver with Austrian crystal.

I like the second pair more, but I’d have to see you wear it with the necklace. It might not match. I also like Leslie’s idea of wearing both earrings on your wedding day.

I’d go for the matching set, but both pairs are certainly pretty. At least put the evenstar on your bouquet! It’d be fun!

I love the pearl earrings. It depends on your dress though, do you have pearls or crystals on it? I’d match with your dress. Also, I really like the necklace, but not the chain it’s on. Maybe it’s just the lighting in the picture though.

Hey! I love the second set! I think they would go well w/o a necklace or w/ the cross necklace you have, but if you are going to wear the pearl necklace, the matching earrings would be better. Haha.. I also like your Lord of the Rings necklace. Could you wear it your rehearsal? =D I miss you!

Thanks all! I guess the first pair it is — but I may take Leslie’s idea of wearing both. I wonder if I would remember to switch, though! :) I’ll have to definitely do a repost later when my dress comes in, with the necklace, dress and earrings all together. And twelve — LOVE that idea! I think I’ll do it!! It will make Mr. Plumeria happy too!
