Mrs. Blueberry, Kansas City
Age and Occupation in 06: 21, Full-time Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Full-time Student
Engagement Date: September 10, 2005
Wedding Date: May 25, 2007
Venue: Wynbrick Center - a historic mansion in my hometown.
About Me: We're having an intimate, 125-ish person wedding with a full-blown dessert reception. When I'm not obsessing over wedding stuff or studying for my BA in English, I'm usually playing with our two kitty cats, blogging, doing crafty things, or hanging out with Mr. Blueberry!
Since we’re not hiring a caterer, and our site isn’t one that has any pre-approved arrangements regarding alcohol, it’s up to us to provide for our guests. This is really great for us, since we get to avoid the over-inflated costs charged by many vendors–we can order our wine by the case from Aldi (a grocery store owned by the Trader Joe’s people, which has a great selection of alcohol at *really* cheap prices) and choose our own favorite beers. Plus, no $3 sodas.
To cut costs, we decided to just offer wine and beer to drink. We’ll have plenty of it there, so guests can still have a good time, but we won’t have to rent an entire bar set-up. Plus, since many of our guests are older (very few are under 21), we don’t anticipate them all drinking–so our alcohol expenses should be relatively low.
I was aided greatly by this handy-dandy guide offered by BC Liquor Stores (pdf).

Mrs. Plumeria, San Francisco

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, High School Teacher
Engagement Date: December 30, 2005
Wedding Date: May 12, 2007
Venue: Hotel Ballroom
About Me: I love all things artsy and unique, and it has become a passion of mine to incorporate these attributes into my wedding (and become DIY royalty in the process). Other than dreaming up projects for the wedding, my latest hobbies include working on my computer, playing with my cute pet bunny, or shopping at Target/Barnes and Noble with my fiance.
… but this time, for me! I have pretty much narrowed down my choices for my wedding day jewelry, but I could use some input as to which earrings I should wear.
To pay tribute to Mr. Plumeria’s and my collective nerdiness, I was almost going to wear this…

Engagement Date: December 31, 2004
Wedding Date: June 29, 2007

About Me: I have been engaged for about two years now - yes, a long engagement, because my fiance and I wanted to wait until I graduated college, which I did this past summer! He proposed after dating just two months - crazy, I know, but 2 years later, here we are, still crazy in love :-). We are having not one, but TWO weddings and TWO receptions in one weekend - American-style and Vietnamese-style - in Dallas, Texas, where I was born and raised!
Is $10 a slice normal/average? Because that’s what we’re paying for our cake.

Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles
Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA
Engagement Date: March 31, 2006
Wedding Date: November 3, 2007
Venue: Radisson Hotel
About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
Part 1 was about the struggles getting the ring, Part 2 is about what happened next…
When Mr. Kiwi told me to take March 31st off, I kind of knew why. It was ten days after getting the ring, which was taunting me from somewhere inside our house. (By the way, having a lumberjack-tall BF who hid things very well sucked).
So, Mr. Kiwi told me we were going to Disneyland on March 31st. As you all know, Disneyland is my favorite place in the entire universe, and I am happy just to go. It was also where I knew he’d propose. I was so sure of it, I almost said “Don’t forget the ring” when we were packing up our things for the day.
According to his upbringing, Mr. Kiwi had to ask my dad for his permission, so he drove over and realized my dad wasn’t home. With thoughts of doing the permission thing on the sly, Mr. K called me to call my dad to tell him to go home. Quite the task, I tell you.

Wedding Date: March, 2007
Venue: Korean Presbyterian Church of Atlanta + Flint Hill
About Me: Mr. Peach and I started dating our senior year of high school when we both lived in Georgia. Since then, we spent 6 years in a long distance relationship. And now by the grace of God, we've made it through; we are living in the same state again (NJ) and we are gettin' married! I was originally going to ask if I could be Miss Mango bc I loveee mangos sooo much, but in the end decided to be true to my GA peach roots! woot!
BM dresses arrived awhile ago from Netbride. Their service was great, and all my girls got their dresses with no mishaps in a timely fashion. Including shipping and such, their prices were the best too!
As modeled by my MOH, twas a bit big for her and everyone else:

Mrs. Dragonfly, Boston
About: Mrs. Dragonfly is a special correspondent bee that scours the net for the best bios of the week every Wednesday.
Mrs. Lemon, Los Angeles/Monterey
Age and Occupation in 06: 26, Graduate Student (Public Policy)
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Environmental Consultant
Engagement Date: April 7, 2006
Wedding Date: July 7, 2007
Venue: Rosary Chapel & Monterey Marriott, Monterey, CA
About Me: My FI and I met online, but we like to tell people that we met at a "cookie shop" which is the technical location of our first encounter. He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. I have a passion for all things "cool, cute and quirky" and I enjoy video games, reading blogs (WeddingBee, trashy celeb, consumer & political) and crafting in my spare time, if I have any!
Alright ladies, my fitness routine might not be super intense, but I’ve started myself into the right groove as I prep for bikini weather this July. While it may take 21-days to start a habit, I think I’ve gotten a few under my belt already.
1. Drinking at least 64 oz. water a day!
If I could, all of my beverages would come from Coffee Bean, but I know that’s not really helping out my fitness goals. Instead of the caffeine, I stocked up on Pure Lemon packets, water bottles and Brita filters. Now, instead of craving juice or coffee, I treat myself to a bottle of Penta or FruitWater instead.
2. Walking to school 3x a week.
I can get to my destination by foot or bus… and both take the same amount of time to reach my destination. I’ve loaded up my iPod shuffle with some rocking tunes and instead of heading for the shuttle, I walk straight up two big hills and speedwalk to class.
3. Oatmeal is my friend.
People keep laughing about how I seem to have it everywhere I go, but it’s helped save me $$$ and my goals in check. Yup - plain ‘ol Quaker oats for breakfast & lunch (along with fruit as a snack), which is semi-boring, but not intended to last forever. It just gets me back into that groove where eating healthy makes me feel healthy.

Mrs. Bluebell, New York
Age and Occupation in 07: 26, Finance Manager
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Playing with the cat and/or Consulting
Engagement Date: December 25, 2005
Wedding Date: June 2007
Venue: Bride's family summer home in the Adirondacks
About Me: Trying to find the perfect balance between family tradition (marrying at the house everyone else in my family gets married at), making our's modern, interesting and different from everyone else in my family's, and incorporating some Chinese tradition for my Chinese fiance. I really have no idea what it's going to end up looking like!
Also, I picked Miss Bluebell for my name because I have blue eyes and I'm a loser like that.
Haha, because I’m a loser like this, I decided to graph the engagement ring price poll results!
Here you go! (Click image for larger view)

(This is using the percentages when there were 225 votes)
A pretty classic bell curve if I may say so myself!
A lot of commenters on my earlier post seemed surprised that there were so many higher budget voters. How did you try to keep costs down? What were you willing to splurge on? How did you decide how much was the ¢¢â€š¬…”right¢¢â€š¬? amount to spend?
Mrs. Lime, Los Angeles
Age and Occupation in 06: 25, Design
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, IT
Engagement Date: July 7, 2006
Wedding Date: August 5, 2007
Venue: An historic estate
About Me: Between work and wedding planning, I try to squeeze in napping, drawing, random spurts of craftiness, tennis, and eating lots of Sprinkles cupcakes, dark chocolate, and noodles of all kinds. Mr. Lime and I have spent our adult lives growing up together, and we're very excited to finally be getting married!
This task is very difficult to do. Of course all the coordinators I met with, and caterers and florists I’ve been speaking with/meeting with don’t understand all the different areas of our venue or the flow of our event. I haven’t gotten a layout plan yet as the venue doesn’t give it to you until you do a walkthrough and layout with the site coordinator. I got sick of sketching the grounds of the estate on every single vendor meeting on some scrap (which I’d not-too-brightly toss afterward), so I drew this:
