BM dresses arrived awhile ago from Netbride. Their service was great, and all my girls got their dresses with no mishaps in a timely fashion. Including shipping and such, their prices were the best too!
As modeled by my MOH, twas a bit big for her and everyone else:

Alright ladies, my fitness routine might not be super intense, but I’ve started myself into the right groove as I prep for bikini weather this July. While it may take 21-days to start a habit, I think I’ve gotten a few under my belt already.
1. Drinking at least 64 oz. water a day!
If I could, all of my beverages would come from Coffee Bean, but I know that’s not really helping out my fitness goals. Instead of the caffeine, I stocked up on Pure Lemon packets, water bottles and Brita filters. Now, instead of craving juice or coffee, I treat myself to a bottle of Penta or FruitWater instead.
2. Walking to school 3x a week.
I can get to my destination by foot or bus… and both take the same amount of time to reach my destination. I’ve loaded up my iPod shuffle with some rocking tunes and instead of heading for the shuttle, I walk straight up two big hills and speedwalk to class.
3. Oatmeal is my friend.
People keep laughing about how I seem to have it everywhere I go, but it’s helped save me $$$ and my goals in check. Yup - plain ‘ol Quaker oats for breakfast & lunch (along with fruit as a snack), which is semi-boring, but not intended to last forever. It just gets me back into that groove where eating healthy makes me feel healthy.
Haha, because I’m a loser like this, I decided to graph the engagement ring price poll results! ![]()
Here you go! (Click image for larger view)
(This is using the percentages when there were 225 votes)
A pretty classic bell curve if I may say so myself!
A lot of commenters on my earlier post seemed surprised that there were so many higher budget voters. How did you try to keep costs down? What were you willing to splurge on? How did you decide how much was the ‚”right‚? amount to spend?

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
This task is very difficult to do. Of course all the coordinators I met with, and caterers and florists I’ve been speaking with/meeting with don’t understand all the different areas of our venue or the flow of our event. I haven’t gotten a layout plan yet as the venue doesn’t give it to you until you do a walkthrough and layout with the site coordinator. I got sick of sketching the grounds of the estate on every single vendor meeting on some scrap (which I’d not-too-brightly toss afterward), so I drew this:

When it came to the planning process, I admit, I really stressed myself out and drove people around me crazy because I was so unorganized. Here are my wedding day imperfections:
1. In one of my close up detail pictures, there’s a shot of my nice pedicured foot in bronze sandals. That was not what I wore day of. I placed a special order for custom made 5″ heels on Shoes Usa. Their shoes are known for comfort despite having gravity defying heels. Days before the wedding, there was no UPS man with my wedding shoes, so I called the company and spoke to who I think was the owner. He said he would ship them out overnight (free of charge). I must’ve thank you’ed the man to death. The day before the wedding, still no shoes so I called and found out they were never shipped. At that point, I was freaking out. A guy there told me he was going to personally drop them off at the airport and have them shipped to Newark airport (35 minutes from where I live), but the plane would not arrive until 7 something the morning of my wedding day. Long story short, my custom made shoes ended up stuck in San Francisco. My friend James ran around the day of the wedding to find me shoes. I ended up in 6″ not 5″ inch white stripper heels day of, which actually turned out perfect with the length of my dress.

From the NY Post, January 26, 2007:
Computers take up so much of our time that they threaten to close windows on our most important relationships, a new study says.
Sixty-five percent of people spend more time with a computer than with their spouse or significant other.
So, are you spending more time on a computer than with your significant other?
Before the actual engagement (Part 1)
Mr. Kiwi and I were together almost exactly two and a half years before we got engaged. The year before that, Mr. Kiwi’s mom gave him the go-ahead to marry me. So, it was after that date I started asking him when his idea for an engagement was. That was also when I was told to just stop and let him do it himself. So what did I do? I joined Pricescope, a diamond related website with forums. It was there I met some great friends, also “Ladies In Waiting” (LIW). Being there allowed me to vent my frustrations on why it hadn’t happened yet. The LIWs also taught me to have patience and to be gracious when others got engaged first.
It was November of ‘05- around my birthday and our 2nd anniversary, when I joined Pricescope. It was also when I started researching the diamond I wanted. In a sad twist of fate, it was also when Mr. Kiwi got into a car accident, and our ring fund was depleted. Mr. Kiwi was unscathed, so was his car (mostly), but there were still damages our meager funds had to cover. I was dismayed, but was trying to find ways around that- we wanted to be engaged now. So you don’t think I was an utter cow, this was all shared with Mr. Kiwi, he wanted to get engaged as well. (And yes, I made sure he was okay after the accident.)

Mrs. Bee here.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Mr. Bee and I were talking about special places that couples share, whether it’s where you met, had your first date, got engaged, or is just your favorite place to go on a date together.
For Mr. Bee and I, it’s ‘ino - a little wine bar in the West Village. It’s where we first met, and where Mr. Bee proposed.
Do you and your SO share a special place? What is the significance of that place?

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to do a ring cost poll!
First - engagement rings.
And on to wedding bands!
Mr. Apple and I visited a Dave and Busters together a few years ago. Dave and Busters is the adult version of Chuck ‘e Cheese - they house a full restaurant and bar, poker tables, pool tables, and all of the latest arcade type games. We were in the arcade area playing the games and we came across a funny little photo booth, “The Gene Machine.” Instead of just taking your photo, this photo booth morphs your digital image (any character trait - eye shape, nose size, eyebrow arch, etc.) with your significant other’s image to create your imaginary progeny.
So we both went into the booth and had our photo’s taken, half thinking that our kids would be Kodak commercial worthy. Oh boy, were we surprised at the results. We couldn’t stop laughing at the print outs - a little mortified to say the least. The girl was a good mix of Mr Apple and I, the boy was kind of cute I guess in a William Hung/American Idol sort of way. ![]()
My sister took these with her now husband while they were dating, and the boy photo resembles my little nephew to the T. I know we have the photo somewhere in our house. I’ll have to keep digging to post up our little “William.” In the meantime here are some samples I found by googling.
Mr. Kiwi and I are trying to save as much money as possible. This means eating at home more, no shopping sprees, and possibly no Valentine’s Day extravaganza. While this does make me a little bummed, they are just frivolities that we don’t really need - whether we’re trying to save money or not.
This also means we’re not doing engagement photos. I don’t know if it’s a cultural thing, a familial thing, or just something engaged couples do in different parts of the country - but I’ve never seen one in a wedding from our circle or family. Mr. Kiwi and I debated it, and instantly pooh-poohed the idea. Why pay for someone to take pictures of us? After almost four years together, we have more than enough pictures we could blow up if need be. We even have one taken on our first date, just our heads together. It’s actually very cute, if I do say so myself.
So we have the picture, but what do we do with it? We’re just having regular table numbers, nothing too fancy. We’re not having a framed matting, nor are we having a portrait of us framed by our ballroom. It’s not that I think it’s wrong, I’m just incredibly un-photogenic (and cheap).
I first came across Teardrop’s stationery at the National Stationery Show last year, but I didn’t find out until recently that they had a custom wedding invitation line. I simply adore their charming, whimsical designs! And just for weddingbee readers, Teardrop is offering 10% off any custom invitation order.
These are examples of some of their save the dates, but matching invitations and thank you cards can also be found on the site. Coincidentally, a lot of them seemed to be perfect for our bees!
This one reminded me of Miss Lime’s color scheme.
