Now that she’s already blogged about it - I can add some additional photos!

Kyle Pott of Lifehack.org lost 50 pounds in 3 months by following 10 “unconventional diet tips.”
He created his own diet based on the Weight Watchers program (which he cleverly researched by googling their patent), and his real life tips are definitely worth a read.
Rule #3 on his list is to make your diet public. Miss Lemon boldly declared her 2007 fitness resolution, and said that she’d check in every 2 weeks on weddingbee. So I was thinking, maybe you too could declare your diet/fitness resolutions publicly here on weddingbee. And you can check back in every two weeks when Miss Lemon does. Whatever your diet or fitness goals are, let’s keep each other motivated! ![]()

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Threadless is having a Valentine’s Day sale. If you buy two shirts of the same design, you’ll save $10. Through February 5th. Check out these new love inspired designs:

I have a question about registering. I’ve heard that some stores (Target specifically) have very particular return policies, regardless of whether the items are from a registry. Does anyone have experience with Target’s policies? It’s making me leery about registering there, even though they have great stuff!
Thanks!

Because of the way our flights work out for our honeymoon in Madagascar we have to (poor poor us! :-D) spend one day in Paris! Our flight from NYC to Paris lands at 11AM and then the next flight out to Madagascar is the next day at 10 AM. So there’s just no way NOT to spend 23 hours in Paris. Hehehehe.
Which means - we need to pack AS MUCH sightseeing into that time as possible, and pick a hotel! I have been to Paris a couple times (but never for long and not for awhile), but Mr. Bluebell never has, so he wants to hit all of the best spots and stay in a hotel/neighborhood that feels appropriately Parisian. Which means we need some advice!
1) Does anyone have any recommendations on the best areas to stay in Paris (right now we’re thinking either the Marais or 6th arrondissement), or better yet, specific hotels? We don’t care a great deal about luxury, but want it to feel charming and Parisian and, you know, be clean.
2) Does anyone have a good plan for 12 hours of Paris? We’re definitely going to be jet-lagged so I’m not sure if we’ll even be able to stay up a full 12 hours, but we’d like to see as much as possible, going more for character and atmosphere than specific landmarks - but seeing as many landmarks as possible along the way! But our ideal plan would be one big walking loop where we can see a bunch of things, and the majority of the time is just romantic strolling between various destinations.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! ![]()

Aside from buying THE dress (which I did on Saturday), I have been a lazy lima bean when it comes to doing wedding stuff. Maybe I’m slacking because I feel like I came into this having done a lot of planning the first time around? Nevertheless, I had a minor freakout minute this morning while watching The Today Show and realized that yesterday was the 6 month mark to our wedding date.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
What We’ve Accomplished
1. Reception venue
2. Ordered the dress
3. Booked hair and makeup (tentative)
4. Booked photographer
5. Picked cake
6. Text of programs (just need to be printed)
What Needs To Be Done
1. Order invitations
2. Confirm coordinator
3. Confirm DJ
4. Book florist
5. Food tasting
6. Room blocks
7. Website
8. Pick tuxes
9. Confirm videographer
10. Registering
What things have you accomplished thus far? What things have you been slacking on?
Edit: Does anyone want to buy this veil from me? It turns out, it doesn’t even match/go with my gown, so I’m getting a new Fenaroli one in 2 weeks. It is diamond white, between chapel/cathedral length on me and I am around 5′4-5′5 without heels. It is in perfect condition - no stains no marks. Will sell for what I paid for it, $150, OBO. Thanks!

Che Bella style #V2020 - somewhere in between chapel and cathedral length…

I found a stylist to come to my hotel to do wedding day hair! This was something that was on my February To-do list, so I’m glad I am a bit ahead of the game. Who is she and how did I find her?
Well, back in 2002 when I was fresh out of college, I was desperate for a job. So I suffered a 6 month stint as a manager at a Mario Tricoci’s, an upscale Chicago salon chain. At the time, I was friendly with a young stylist there who I’ll call “J,” who did kickass updos and special occasion hair. I’ve gone back to her every once in a blue moon for a cut, but it’s been over 2 years since my last visit. At this point, I wasn’t even sure she still worked for the company!
Luckily she was still there, so I booked a haircut appointment with her this past weekend (I desperately needed a trim). I knew that stylists there technically aren’t supposed to “freelance” on the side, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. She was thrilled and said she would absolutely do it! Besides, with me and my 5 bridesmaids, it’s definitely worth her while (financially speaking, since she gets to keep 100% of the profits instead of 50% automatically going to the company). Whereas the salon would charge $75+ for an updo, she will charge me $45-50 per girl. YAY!! Cheap is good, considering that I’ll be footing the bill for 6 updos.
An entire wedding party does Michael Jackson’s Thriller…
(thanks, Chris!)
My grandfather came back into town yesterday and he asked me when my wedding was. He then commenced to open his “special asian calendar voo-doo book” as I like to call it.
Grandfather: “OOOH! You picked a really good date! It’s one of the best days you could’ve picked out of the whole year - it falls on a full moon……. If you had picked the day after (Saturday = my mother’s choosing), it would’ve been a really bad day! Not lucky at all - it’s a really ugly day!”
Go figure.
Regardless, everything is already set it stone - I signed all the contracts, paid all my deposits/vendors. The end!
Since a lot of the things are up in the air regarding our wedding, I thought I’d post with a random blog full of things that are going on.
To start with, I’ve purchased a veil off of ebay. It was my first ever ebay purchase and I hope it works out! I should be receiving it any day now. It’s a low expense veil, as I might borrow my cousin’s veil for the wedding. So I guess you would say it’s a tester! It looks like this:

I’m stressing about our guest list again. We sent out the STDs fairly early, since our wedding is on Memorial Day weekend and I wanted the guests to have plenty of notice. Alas, this is only creating problems for us…
I know that we must send invites to everyone who got STDs, but there are some people who we forgot to include in our original count and are held at a “higher status” than some others already on the guest list–our friends taking precedence over my mom’s co-workers, etc. Since we’re just plain out of space to add more people it looks like we can’t just add our friends to the guest count :(.
All I can hope for is that enough people will RSVP “no” fairly early, so that my friends can be invited a bit later…I hope they will be understanding if they receive their invites just a bit late. What a bummer.
Anyone else have this problem? Have you discovered a marvelous solution to it?
For the past 6 months or so, Miss Plum (my event & floral designer) and I have been tagging emails, sending photos of centerpiece ideas, color swatches, and floral specs. We met up last weekend at a wholesale floral shop to select flowers and vases, so she could create a sample centerpeice for me yesterday. Initially she was going to do two samples for me.
1) one with curly willows, ranunculus, hydrangea, pink and green roses
or
2) mantilla branch (which is a very thick and heavy looking branch) with pomanders filled with the same flowers laid on top of the branch.
But after seeing the beautiful sample she made for me today, there is no need for another. I was in complete awe looking up at my gorgeous centerpiece. She took everything that I envisioned, put it all together and made it even prettier! She definitely has a great eye for design and is so very talented! This will be the exact same table setup including the four small centerpieces with a little variation in the color of the flowers - I’d like to have more green just got give it more pop. Call me the green goober. ![]()
Monterey may be my hometown, but it’s going to be quite a destination for the majority of our invited guests. Most of those on the guest list will be travelling from LA, the Bay Area or NY/PA, and we know that it’s a bit taxing to get to our locale. So I’ve constantly kept in mind various ways of making sure our guests feel warm and welcomed, and I simply adore the idea of receiving a goodie bag upon arrival. What better way to welcome our friends and family to Monterey than with a little bag of goodies to start the trip!
But what should I put the goodies in? A bag? A box? A basket? I decided against using any paper goods long ago (gable boxes/bags), just due to the expense for a disposable container. Which quickly led me to look for tote bags and such… something that someone could pack away and possibly use for another day? Now I do recall quite the insane frenzy that tote bags generate at conventions, so perhaps someone will be overly excited to get one from me?
