Tomorrow or Friday is round 2 of our engagement photos. A friend of mine up here (the mom of two of my preschoolers) has offered to take the photos in her studio as a favor to me (I’m “paying” her with free babysitting). So now I have an outfit conundrum.
You guys were super right that the outfit I wore in our last photo session was not at all right, so now I’m enlisting your opinion for these photos.
Mr. Blueberry will be wearing a dark brownish green sweater that’s got a zipper near the neck (sorry no picture; my camera crapped out on me right after I took the photos below). I’m debating among these four options:

Confession: I’ve been home from my honeymoon for 4 months…and I’ve gained 20 pounds.
Yep, it’s true. Yep, I’m sure. And yep…it ain’t pretty.
I share this information with you now because, in truth, I want to scare you all a teeny bit. I want to get you thinking about a gameplan, preparing for the “ah, to hell with it” attitude that will crawl into your brain and plop down on a beanbag chair with a bag of Fritos and a diet coke, and to get you ready.
In truth, I’ve had major issues with my weight my whole life..so of course that didn’t help matters. But in my own non-scientific research, apparently that doesn’t make a lick of a difference. In a recent poll I took (and by “poll” I mean I called 5 friends last night who each were married in the last three years), 100% of my respondents admitted to gaining weight immediately following their weddings.

Besides doing a photo guest book, Mr. Strawberry and I will also be having a wish jar/wish tree. I was inspired to have my own made after seeing these cards, instead of blank pieces of paper. They are about the size of business cards and I simply can’t wait to see what guests write!

Miss Lime previously blogged about Trash This Dress, but I didn’t take a look at it until reader Jen sent us a link. Trash this dress is a blog that features pictures of brides getting their wedding dresses dirty, wet, and trashed!
Check out this month’s featured photographer, Sol Tamargo. This bride looks like she’s having a blast, and her mermaid style dress is perfect for these pictures! Absolutely gorgeous!

The knot bios are all screwy! WTF!? How am I supposed to get any wedding related inspritation? Ideas don’t just COME to me people! They have to be stolen from somewhere! HELLO!?
Miss Blueberry had a great post yesterday about how her atheist background has caused a conflict with her ringbearer participating in her wedding. Obviously coming from a different religious background than your SO can potentially create issues. But having no religious affiliation can cause conflict as well; whether it’s selecting a venue or officiant, dealing with in-laws, etc., these issues often present themself when planning a wedding and a life together.
Has your (or your FI’s) lack of religion posed any problems in your relationship or your relationships with your in-laws? How has it affected your wedding planning, and how have you handled or resolved such issues?

You read earlier that I procrastinated on getting my vaccinations until yesterday. Well Mr. Bee picked up my passport today too - and we’re leaving for Costa Rica on an 8 am flight tomorrow! I swear I was just too busy! ![]()
For those of you looking to get your passport expedited, here’s the low down on the process I went through. I tried to get an appointment at the New York Passport Agency (which happens to be within walking distance), but they were all booked. So I researched a couple of different passport expediting services in New York, and many of them recommended It’s Easy Passport.
There were two forms I downloaded from the site and filled out - the passport application, and an authorization letter for It’s Easy to process my application. Then I took the forms, two passport photos, my old passport, a copy of my e-ticket, and headed to their office. Once I was there, I simply submitted all the requisite documentation, paid the fee and I was out of there in 5 minutes.
Since I was a child I was immersed in plants and flowers. My dad had a talent for plants, something I must not have picked up.
He called me the other day to tell me he had new new orchids blooming, and wanted me to come over to see them as soon as possible.
So, on my way to my doctor’s appointment, I stopped by and saw these:
I think it’s a phaleonopsis orchid, and it has the oddest colors. They’re like a greenish/orangey/brown color but in person are just stunning.

I love lollipops something fierce. Hands down, they are my favorite candy. I don’t know why, as it seems that I can never just suck on them like I’m supposed to. I’m a biter. These pretty candys would be gone in one bite with me.
Favorsandflowers.com has a large selection of these babies in a wide variety of colors that would be cute as individual wedding favors or as a part of a larger candy buffet. I’m also a big fan of using them as escort cards.
One of my favorite things about Oscar night is watching the E! Channel’s Live From the Red Carpet Pre-Show. The celebs, the fashion, the jewels, the swank, the red carpet. That got me thinking… how awesome would it be to walk down our very own red carpet on our wedding day?! SWEET, of course!

Mr. Strawberry wants to give unique gifts to his groomsmen and I’ve made it my mission to make that happen. I do aim to please. Tinyfaces.com seems to be a contender in the unique gift department, turning your favorite pictures into fun illustrations.
Thanks so much for all your great feedback on vaccinations! I decided better to be safe than sorry and get vaccines of my own as well.
Mr. Bee filled his typhoid vaccine and anti-malaria prescriptions this past weekend. Our pharmacist didn’t tell us that the typhoid vaccine needed to be refrigerated (although it was posted on the medication direction sheet), so we left it aside and it was ruined. That sucker cost $65 because it wasn’t covered by insurance!
I decided to go ahead get prescriptions for the same vaccines, and went into my doc’s office yesterday. It was already too late to start the typhoid regimen (as it was for Mr. Bee as well), so she only gave me a prescription for an anti-malaria medication and cipro (a traveller’s sickness treatment… only to be used in case of).
The weird thing is, she checked my bloodwork from a recent physical I had, and it showed that I had no antibodies for Hepatitis A & B. I know I got those vaccines, because Hep A is a three shot course over six months. Perhaps I got a weak batch? As a hypochondriac, that’s actually pretty disturbing. Anyway I got revaccinated for Hep A&B yesterday, which is recommended for travel to Central America.
When I first got engaged, I swept up any and all books with the words “marriage”, “bride” and “wedding” in the title. Now, almost a year later, I finally finished one of them.
The book is “Bride in Overdrive” by Jorie Green Mark - it’s a non-fiction book about her descent into wedding insanity, and how she came out of it unscathed. This book is hilarious!

One of the things that made me laugh out loud: after reading a few wedding magazines, she demanded that her father provide a budget for lobster as the main course. Oddly enough, she doesn’t even LIKE lobster, but hey, that’s what the magazines said (yes, she realizes her mistake). Another time, she and her fiance got into an altercation while registering for gifts - all things the magazines said she had to have. I can relate to that doubt that comes with reading magazines like that, because I myself felt the same way.
Mr. Apple and I have been scouring the net for a local videographer - someone with good taste, a sense of contemporary style, who uses the HD format, and within our price range. We have been looking for the past couple of months and have run into some interesting videos on the web… if you look hard enough you too can find some like these:
1. One video looked like it had been filmed in a cave/grotto from Lord of the Rings. The video was so dark I had to turn up the brightness on my moniter to see any details.
2. In another video, all the people (ie. bride, groom and all the guests) looked like they had just gotten back from a tanning session gone horribly wrong. I don’t know if it was the film quality or what but the reels were an orange color.
