For our wedding, we wanted a non-denominational civil ceremony perhaps with some semi-religious readings to incorporate our different beliefs. Finding such a person was a rather difficult task.
At first, we were going to ask one of FI’s friends to do it, since he is ordained and it would be more meaningful because we knew him. However, to make a long story short, FI ended up not wanting to ask him and we were back to square one.
After some research (hours of poring over websites, the knot, directories, and looking up people’s reviews of vendors), we decided to go with a clergy service - Love Notes Weddings.
I contacted the minister, Marty Younkin, and received a prompt response. From there, he sent me a big package with an information packet, the contract, comments from past brides, a list of preferred vendors, and a thick book that he wrote with lots of passages for wedding readings.

It was really easy to flip through and within 30 minutes, I had my whole wedding ceremony planned.
Through our correspondence, I found him to be really nice, easy to get along with, experienced (around 30 years!), and from what I hear, he’s supposed to be funny (funny good, not funny bad
).
