Falling Asleep

February 2nd, 2007 @ 12:23 pm by Mrs. Lemon

*YAWN* I swear I’m trying my best to stay awake and refreshed today, but it’s just not working. I got far too little sleep last night, but I really can’t complain. You see, I went out of my way to spend some time with Mr. Lemon last night, since our schedules have kept us away from each other since Sunday. He’s been working at the office until 11pm each night, and I’ve had events and schoolwork to keep me busy.

But last night, we both knew we had to make the extra effort to see each other, since he’s leaving town tomorrow for a whole week. So, I took my books and laptop to his office, and there we sat in silent harmony (minus the silly laugh breaks and hot cocoa runs) until 1am. It was just like those fun little study dates we each had back in college, where sitting in the same big room or coffee shop with your crush was enough to make your heart skip a beat.

When we went back to his apartment, both exhausted from our long day, we still managed to stay awake for awhile, chatting about our week and lots of unimportant things. We slowly drifted off to sleep… only to be rudely awakened by the alarm four hours later.

When I told him we had to get up, he asked, “How’d you get to be so brave?” Still thinking that he was half asleep and continuing some dream, I nudged him again.

“No really,” he kept up, “How?”
“What are you talking about?” (note: Miss Lemon = so NOT a morning person)
“I can’t even think about getting up. I just want to stay in bed and snuggle all day”

And with that, we snoozed for 10 more minutes only to rush out the door soon after. Each of the yawns I had today made me think of the cute way we woke up, and our fun little date last night. In fact, they remind me of some of our first dates where we stayed out far past our curfews, only to suffer the next day at work. We haven’t changed much, and I can only cross my fingers that we’ll have more sleepless nights to giggle about in the future.

Anyone else sacrificing sleep for their relationships (in a good way)?

My SO and I are long distance during the school year. Since we’re busy with school and work, we really only have time to talk at night on the phone. Therefore, we’ll usually put off going to bed just so we can talk. But hey, that’s why they have coffee.

my bf and i are long distance with a 3 hour time difference, so he suffers a bit more than i do when we talk but waking up knowing that i was just tucked in by him makes the lack of sleep totally worth it. :-)

Since I go to bed late, and Mr. Kiwi wakes up early, I sometimes get up early to see him before he has to leave to coach a game. And.. then I may go to sleep, but more often than not I’m awake. :)

So cute! When we were long distance we would stay up late talking on the phone. Now that we live together, I fall asleep every night on the couch with my head in my FI’s lap since he stays up later. He says it’s one of his favorite times of the day. :)

my FI were long distance for about 4 years, but only 3 hour apart. So the distance is drive-able. I can’t count the number of times we’d be on the phone talking and he would end up driving down in the middle of the night. At times I would go up there over the weekend knowing I would only get to see him for a day and drive back at 5 am to drive straight to work! *sigh* love makes you do some crazy things!

My fiance graduated this past December, but I still have a year left of school after this May. I’ll be transferring after the wedding in June to be with him, but this semester is really difficult. He’s now very used to his 8-5 to bed by 10:30 routine, where as I’m still pulling 1 ams because I want to talk to him, and I put off homework till 10:30 to do so. It’s hard with the different schedules, but we’re making it work:

We had a Skype date last night :) We watched the Princess Bride!

oh yeah, all throughout college I lost a LOT of sleep talking on the phone since we were long distance. In grad school I got smarter and got more sleep tho. ^_^

my bf works nights, i work days. he gets home when i should already be in bed (around 1 or 2am most nights) but i stay up an hour or two to catch up with him. then i sleep maybe 4 hours on a good night and i roll out of bed and out the door by 8am the next morning. every day.

it wears on you. but if you sacrifice, it should be because you want to. if i didn’t, i don’t think i’d spend more than an hour or two with my bf a week.

awee, too cute - we were long distance for the 1st year, sleepless nights when he made it back in town - i loved every minute of it and makes me appreciate seeing him everyday now!

Besides the first year of our relationship where we were long distance?

Since he goes to work later than me (and come home later), he tends to stay up late. Unfortunately that means I stay up later than I want. Just last night, we went to the UCLA basketball game, which meant not getting home until about 10:30. By the time I got all the things done I needed for today, I didn’t get to sleep until after midnight…which means waking up is a biotch! But it’s worth it to spend that time together.

My SO wakes up at 5am in the morning an dhe is out of the door by 6am, so I am still sleeping. But before he leaves for work, he comes and gives me a kiss goodbye and tell me he loves me very much. And I don’t mind this sleep interruption at all :-D
