I feel like I spent most of this weekend at dress shops, and I suppose I did. But we found both my bridesmaid’s dress, and my mom’s dress! I’ll blog about one today, and one tomorrow. ![]()
Saturday, Katie and I got up bright and early and hopped in the car with her mom, to begin our hopefully-short dress search. I’ve blogged previously about how I was leaving it up to her to choose her own dress, but that it would preferably be blue and tea-length. We were sort of hoping to avoid getting a “real” bridesmaid’s dress, with their long shipping time and added expense.
We started at Group USA and then tried Dillards, JC Penney, Lane Bryant, even DEB. Nothing. Then, refreshed by a yummy lunch (anybody else <3 Panera?) Katie’s mom remembered a shop called Fashions at Large. We stepped in there and…wow. So many great gowns to chose from! Katie liked a lot of the ones from the Alfred Angelo bridesmaid line (which is crazy, because they’re available at many bridal shops in the area) so she started trying on. After trying on several with varying degrees of success (her mom and I vetoed any that we hated
) we found…the dress!
Here’s happy Katie, with her dress *style* (it’ll be a different color):

Hehe….the sample was like 40 sizes too big for her, lol. Yay for those clippy fitting things!
She ordered it in navy blue, with the bands at the top and under the bust in blue pastel. Plus, we’re not that wild about the little bow on there, so I’ll be finding pretty and sparkly brooch to clip where the bow is.
