My Custom Flora Pin By K. Autumn

February 5th, 2007 @ 9:32 am by Mrs. Apple

A few weeks ago I received my veil alternative - K Autumn’s beautiful hairpin. Although most brides look beautiful in long flowing white veils, I don’t. While wedding dress shopping, I tried on a couple of different veils just for shits and giggles. I picked some that had varying lengths, embroidered vs sparkly things, and although they were all beautiful pieces they just weren’t me. I didn’t feel it was a right match.

So the search continued for my perfect veil alternative, but I definitely wanted some sort of flower in my hair whether it be fresh gardenias or silk peonies.

The first time I saw these beautiful K Autumn Hairpins was about 6 months or so ago on a Weddingbee post featuring Joy of Oh Joy!. Judging from Joy’s beautiful photos, I definitely wanted one for myself because it gives such a beautiful touch to her look. I really wanted a similiar color because it would give a nice splash of color to my wedding look. I emailed Joy for some follow up information on her hairpin. She gave me rave reviews, so I was on my way to selecting my hairpin.

I contacted Kelly at K. Autumn and she was very prompt with the many questions I had for her. She sent me mulitple choices for stones and feather color. Each pin is hand sewn and the base assembled with felt. They are secured with a very strong alligator clip - it has the ability to clip to fine or thick hairstyles. They are handcrafted with lots of love and are one of a kind.

Here is my hairpin choice: raspberry hand-dyed flower of shantung silk, spotted guinea feathers, brown hackle, peacock
semi-precious stones: raspberry quartz, garnet, peridot, rose quartz - $145.00

I LOVE this! I have a long veil that I plan on taking off after the ceremony, but my hair is very short (like when Natalie Portman cut her hair short) so I wanted something in place of the veil to add a little something! I’m definitely contacting this place!
