Painting Of The Face + Pinning Of The Hair

February 6th, 2007 @ 3:46 pm by Mrs. Lime

On a freakishly hot SoCal “winter” day, we braved the crowds of Laguna and traffic on PCH to get my face painted and hair did. I have had quite disastrous results in previous, professional attempts at this painting of the face and the pinning of the hair business, so I was a bit leery. Luckily, this attempt resulted in success!

[Exhibit A]
My engagement photos. I stopped by a higher-end makeup counter at a higher-end department store at a high-end mall. My friendly artist made me look like a drag queen. I told him “light, natural, soft, everyday look, but hide my crappy complexion, please.” Mr. Lime did not recognize me. I looked like a drag queen. I wiped off 2/3 of the makeup and re-did it five minutes before we had to meet our photographer.

I could list more horror stories, but I know you spawn of the Information Age have perpetual ADD and need pictures! Here they are, already.

The skillful paint and pinning are courtesy of Natalie Buketov. My guidelines were soft, natural, “like me, only prettier with better looking skin.” I got to take advantage of a great January “knottie” special she was running - 50% off her regular rate for bridesmaids/moms/whoever and over 30% off bridal hair + makeup. Her normal rates are on par with other local, on location artists as well. She is based out of Orange County but will travel to your location. Contact information is posted on her website.

Yes, Mr. Lime went to the trial with me. He was my litmus test of whether my makeup was natural enough, as he absolutely hates when I wear anything more than my skimpy everyday portion. I got his stamp of approval, so I signed the contract. Another thing checked off the list!

Everything is beautiful. I especially love your hair. If you don’t mind, I’m going to save a copy of the hair pic for my own inspiration. That is something definately I would rock. :)

haha - i had to laugh at your ’small eye’! my right eye just about disappears when i smile, but it’s noticeably smaller all the time. i’m hoping the make-up artist can work some magic on the wedding day so i don’t become a one-eyed monster in all my pictures!
