Invitations Are In Jail

February 8th, 2007 @ 4:30 pm by Mrs. Lily

My poor little invitations are dying to go out (esp. since the RSVP date is March 10th!), but they can’t because their envelopes are being held hostage by the calligrapher.

He promised to get them to me by last Friday (which was later than the original date), and when I called yesterday to see what the deal was he said he was halfway done. Can you say heart-attack?

My knee-jerk reaction was to say, “Gimme my invites now!” but instead I just told him I need them ASAP and asked what needs to be done to make that happen. He said they would get to me by next Monday. Mr. Lily then asked if he meant the Monday coming up or the Monday after. I hadn’t considered that. At 1am I got so concerned that I e-mailed the guy to clarify (no response). If he has to work all day and all night they better be here by Monday! Sigh.

But the saga isn’t over just yet. I went to get stamps today (I had been waiting to weigh everything, but gave up). I wanted the green and purple wedding stamps because that’s basically the only option for 63 cent stamps. The branch by me only had 2 books. So then I walked 13 blocks to the next branch. They had 1 book of stamps. Then I went to the mega mega post office another 20 blocks down. They had 0 books of stamps. Now, not only are my envelopes missing, they will be naked and unable to fly cross-country into the hands of my eager guests. Boo-hoo. Wedding planning can certainly test a girl’s patience!

Miss Lily, I had the same experience, had to go to multiple post offices to find those stamps! I do wish that the usps would make more attractive stamps, because I really do not like the current options. One wonders why everyone has tapped into the “bridal industry” and usps hasn’t even caught up with attractive stamps yet!

That sucks! I hate things like this. It gets you worked up, and most of it is out of your control anyway. The calligrapher sucks for not delivering on time, his job is time sensative and he of all people should know that by now. Now I’m angry too. What an a-hole.

i went on a wild goose chase for those .63 wedding stamps. i didn’t find any and i went to about 3 post offices. I did see them online but they came with the 0.39 cents stamps that i don’t need. i ended up with bryce canyon stamps, which were better than the one with a scientist’s face on it. good luck. it’ll work out fine!

I agree with the USPS.com idea! Shipping takes about a day or two!
