Vera Wang Flowers

Dang, this lady really wants to take over EVERY aspect of the wedding (and now, life too) silly

Vera Wang Flowers : wedding flowers Z74700401 V853_c

Apparently, just because she lent her name to these bouquets, the roses are now worth 7.50+ per stem!

Buttt…. when you add a small bottle of her signature perfume, add $30 into the mix!

Now THAT is power.

At the risk of offending a lot of women, I myself
find Vera Wang to be incredibly overrated - not that she doesn’t make some beautiful gowns and accessories, but that very little of her merchandise strikes me as being worth the incredibly high prices.

I feel like a lot of her stuff gets bought solely because of the power of her name and while I admire her as a talented, successful Asian American designer, I don’t know if she’s entirely using her power for good :)

Not only that, but at a certain point she’s spread herself so thin that I wonder how much of it is really designed by her and how much by some poor design student trying to make it on their own!

Yeah, can you believe she sells mattresses now? Is there anything she won’t sell?

I toootally agree with you guys regarding mattresses and flowers and all the other random crap she sells, but I just want to step in in defense of her jewelry! My engagement ring is from her and it really is a unique and beautiful setting that was toootally reasonably priced for all the pave work. I admit that when we first saw it I was thinking whatever, we’re not going to want to pay the markup for a VW ring, but no one else makes one quite like this AND it’s great quality AND very comparable in price to similar styles! Hehe okay I’m done now, but I agree, when I saw her TV ad for the mattresses all I could do was yell at her/the tv/Mr. Bluebell “WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO WITH MATTRESSES????” :-)

When I first saw the commercial for the mattress, my jaw fell to the floor. I mean, really, what areas of life is there that she doesn’t want to have design control over? I admit she is a talented designer, but I think she has taken it just a little too far.

I think she’s overrated too. I agree with hm above, hook her up with Oprah and they could run the world. Between magazines, tv, fashion, weddings..what more could we need!? She will be selling cars (like Eddie Bauer), food (George Forman), face cleaners (Jessica Simpson)in the future…you get the picture.

don’t forget she has the honeymoon suite and the HALEKULANI HOTEL - which might just use her mattresses too :)

Btw, that hotel is gorgeous when I went to Honolulu (almost 4 years ago!) Wow! I was amazed by that hotel right on the water with a dance floor facing the water *sigh*

But yeah, I think she’s overrated too.

I find the mattresses very strange too. Especially considering the print ads are her with a mannequin in a wedding dress. Uh, what does that have to do with mattresses? I think her jewelry is beautiful, and that’s a very nice bouquet–I like the very dark leaves mixed in with the cream roses. That said, I haven’t liked the gowns she’s featured in her ads for years. I do like the way she’s been using black on her gowns, but the gowns themselves…they’re not very pretty, are they? Maybe those are just the more avant-garde of her designs and if you go to the salon there are more wearable gowns. It’s too bad, though, I’ve been looking at some old Martha Stewart Wedding magazines from ten years ago and the Vera Wangs advertised back then were beautiful, you could still wear them today.

she sells mattresses now? wow. i didn’t know that. but i do remember, once upon a long time ago, i used to dream of wearing a vera wang dress. those days are long gone [cuz she's waaaaaaaaaay too expensive for me to even think about calling for a consultation]. i would love to have that kind of cachet with my name though.

I would never buy anything with her name on it. Too expensive. Ridiculously expensive. Just me, though, but I have better things to waste my money on….haha.
