With This Ring…

February 9th, 2007 @ 5:09 pm by Mrs. Pearl

I began the arduous task of trying to find a wedding ring. You see, I am not what you would call “normal.” I am ready to announce here and now…to come out of the closet…

I have fat fingers.

I mean dang, overall I could lose weight (and am…YAY for me!), but my fingers have always been unnaturally short and pudgy. It makes finding a wedding exceptionally difficult because most women’s rings aren’t made so big.

I’ve found a couple so far on e-Wedding Bands that I like a lot. I’m familiar with the quality of their rings and I’ve found them to be quite nice. That said, here are the ones I’m considering.

Please vote on the one you like best and help me gain some clarity!

the floating diamond one is my favorite but it looks really dainty and it doesn’t look it like its made for everyday wear. i feel like the diamonds would fall off!

the floating diamond is so pretty and different. I have the half eternity band and i find it dull. The floating diamond would be great to wear alone too.

It would also depend on what your engagement ring looks like, unless you are not planning on wearing them together? But I like the floating one!! Its so different!!

ooh I really like the floating diamond ring too! It’s so pretty. If not, I like the first band, nice and simple. =) Everything’s so pretty though!

The floating one is gorgeous, but I worry that unless it’s in platinum, the diamonds might fall out over time–not something you want happening to your precious wedding band! I also think it depends on the style of your e-ring. But you really can’t go wrong with any of them! :-)

ooo..the floating diamond one is so pretty! But I agree with the other ladies, I’d be afraid of the diamond falling out. Then again I’m a total klutz, so it would most definitely find a way of falling out if it were mine. :-P The first one is simple and classic; but my e-ring is a filigree/vintage looking thing, so I’m a bit biased towards those, too. :-)

love the floating diamond style as well. I’m also looking for a similar ring! Can you say where it’s from?

i agree and am loving the floating diamond! I bought a similiar one that has the floating diamond look by H Stern. I too have pudgy fingers, I am so jealous of those girls that have long skinny model fingers. In pictures, my fingers look ginormous and so i try to hide them as much as possible.

Even though the floating diamond band is gorgeous, I am not sure it is timeless. If you think you will love it forever and ever, go for that one. Otherwise, i voted for the Fillagree band. It has a unique vintage look.

I love the looks of the floating diamond band, but am I the only one who thinks that a wedding band should be solid? I love filigree bands too, but, to me, it seems that the wedding band should symbolize the marriage: solid, endless, unbroken. The traditional Jewish wedding ring is a solid gold band with no gems, and my Jewish fiance is quite against me getting any gems in my wedding band. I didn’t want to go THAT far, I was happy enough with a solid band (perhaps one with little stones in it?) I know plenty of Jewish women who have stones in their wedding bands, not everyone interprets it that way. Oh well–I guess with a plain band I don’t have to worry about it matching my engagment ring!

I think I have plump fingers for the length of my fingers. They’re not big but just plump in proportions. I picked a band from deBeers. it’s not on their website. So if you get a chance to check it out at the store, it’s called the aura. I tried looking online for a photo but was unsuccessful. It looks slightly antique but a bit modern in some way. It’s a flat band with diamonds embedded into it. And around each diamond, the metal is etched to look similar to a star. It’s very illuminating and simple. I also like it because I found the eternity bands to be too much on my plump fingers. Good luck on your search.
