Open Question: Post Wedding Photos

February 12th, 2007 @ 2:55 pm by Open Question

Hi there ladies,

Your site certainly helped pass the pre-wedding time for me, and was an invaluable resource that I’ve recommended to many friends who have upcoming weddings. Thanks for providing a sweet and ‘real’ look at weddings… my web favourite.

I got married this past January 8th in Mexico, and I have a question that doesn’t seem to be addressed too much on the site. What creative things have people done with wedding photos? I had a fantastic company that provided digital files, so I do plan on using Blurb (or a comparable service) to create photo books. I also plan on printing some enlargements for us and our families. Any other suggestions on what to do with great wedding photos post-wedding?

Thanks and all the best,
Erin from Toronto

very beautiful pics! I plan on using the photobooks from mypublisher.com. You can get coupon codes and also if you’re a costco member you get 20% off. I had one done as a test and it came out pretty nice.

I have heard of Pictage, but don’t know very much about it. Great pictures, by the way.

I scrapbook…and I’m currently working on my wedding scrapbook (I got married last Sept). I think photo books are nice but a scrapbook is more “you”.

I am also creating scrapbooks for my parents and for other important people in our wedding party. I will be giving my mom and my mother in-law scrapbooks of the wedding for mother’s day

I was thinking along the lines of using your photos afterwards for xmas cards and various things like that. That’s what I’ve been doing with our numerous e-pics.

i plan to use blurb for our wedding photo books! i’ve used it once for an anniversary book and it worked out really well. i had friends who took various artistic photos of the wedding (aka, a macro version of a bouquet) and plan to frame those and post them around my house eventually. there are lots of possibilities!

Erin,

Congrats on the lovely photos. Here are a few more ideas. You could turn a photo into a canvas (heard about this on shelteriffic), which I want to do one day (as soon as we decide on an image). Here’s a link to the specific entry…

Also, because we got married at the end of October last year and received the digital negatives in early December, I made photocards out of a few shots. First were photo Christmas cards from photoworks.com (they had the most interesting card selection; used Bedazzled to put a photo of us in an ornament and a larger photo inside the card) which we mostly sent to people who didn’t come to the wedding as a Christmas card/announcement. Then made another design with wedding photos for a New Years card from Shutterfly.com and sent (still sending, hey - it’s still not yet Chinese New Year) as thank you notes to our guests. Because it was near Christmas, there were a lot of discount cards around, which I took full advantage of them, as well as a larger order discount. That helped make the cards more affordable.

There’s always photo drink coasters. I’m not a calendar or photo mug sort of gal, but those choices are out there, too.

Good luck.

Erin –

Your pictures are gorgeous. If you happen to read this, I have a question for you, if you don’t mind?

Thank you, and congratulations!

ooo thanks cheapobride for pointing out that mypublisher has a costco discount. i’m planning on getting a couple books put together in the next couple months.

I’m a big fan of this “scrapbooking”– putting together a picture album yourself.

Anyone know of other photobook companies other than Blurb & MyPublisher that they’d recommend? i’m trying to make a coffeetable book for my wedding pics, too! (i LOVE my photographers but man they were price-y!) =)

Erin, your pictures are BEAUTIFUL! I plan on looking into turning my engagement/wedding pics into a photomosaic and a jigsaw puzzle. The latter’s moreso a gift to my fiance, because he’s a puzzle freak. I’m not sure how/where I’d get a photomosaic made, but i think it’d be a great way to incorporate all your gorgeous shots.
Congratulations again!
