Wedding Nightmares

February 12th, 2007 @ 11:57 am by Mrs. Peach

So far I’ve had two bad dreams about my wedding. I know with all the wedding planning stress this is not uncommon for brides, but both my dreams have been about the same thing: Me forgetting my veil! And then driving like a maniac to go get it. Since I’ve only dreamed about it twice, I don’t know if I can call it a reccuring dream… but I just find it weird that in both dreams I forgot my veil! Wonder if it means anything…

Anyone wanna take a stab at dream interpretation? haha

Have you had any recurring nightmares about the wedding?

Yes! I have all sorts of recurring wedding nightmares: I forget to workout and get really toned, no one dances, we don’t get to talk to anyone at the reception…the cure thus far has been reading honeymoon travel books before bed ; )

I don’t know if it counts as recurring since they’re different in detail every time. Every time I have a wedding “nightmare” it’s about my wedding being in completely different venues than the ones I booked, but I’m always calm in my dreams thinking “this is my wedding. I’m only doing this once, so take it as it comes.” I don’t know what that means since if on my wedding day someone told me my ceremony was going to be held in an old, dilapidated, ship-wrecked boat instead of the church my parents were married in, I’d probably cry!

YES!!! I am the same oojoy they are not always the same but something crazy is always going on. I use to not watch the news before I went to bed beacuse I had weird dreams. But now I cannot watch Bridezilla before I go to bed becasue of the crazy wedding dreams I have.

I haven’t had any wedding dreams yet, but just this weekend I was getting a venue tour and the guy who was showing us the place told us he once had a couple show up to get married and they forgot their marriage license! Good thing it was the last wedding of the day for their officiant or he would have had to leave and they wouldn’t have gotten married at all. Can you imagine?

I didn’t have any nightmares, but I did actually forget my veil on the wedding day!

Okay, so not so much “forgot” it, as much as “my father accidentally threw it away in the weeks before the wedding.” Luckily I still had the fake veil from my bachelorette party in my car (which apparently was $10 from David’s Bridal) and wore that at the wedding. Quick fix and it looked great!

Sorry that’s not very helpful :)

YES! Every so often I have these lame anxiety dreams about my wedding. Usually it involves vendors not showing up, or people not following through with the things they promised me. One time, I ended up grilling huge slabs of ribs by myself because the caterers didn’t show, and I forgot to put my wedding dress on for 2 hours (in the dream.)

Strangely, in my waking life, I’m pretty calm about the whole thing and I’m no Bridezilla who’s obsessed with the PERFECT day!! So I wonder why these dreams are manifesting, hmmm.

It means you should get someone else to be in charge of getting your veil to the church. Wedding days can be mind boggling so get your dress and accessories delivered to the church by a trusted friend.

I was wondering about this too… I have already had 4 nightmares about my wedding, mostly they are about things that i still have to plan. My wedding is not until Ugust 24th and I think I am not that stressed out. I had a dream that My fiance left and married someone else because it’s not like we sent the invitations out. Hen I had a dream about DJ not showing up, not booking the florist, people not dancing. Me forgetting to buy white shoes and only having black heels, forgetting the veil, ripping the dress, getting lost on the way to the ceremony. And girls, believe me I am really not as worried about my wedding as it seems from my dreams.. so i am baffled, and everytime I wake up, I feel so exhausted from the dreams. :)

Wow! I’m so happy other people are going through the same thing. :)

I just had another wedding nightmare last night (my third one over the past few months). They have all been slightly different, but the main idea is the same. In all of them it’s all of a sudden my wedding day and I haven’t finished all of the planning yet. So I still haven’t figured out all the details for the vendors, planned what I’m wearing to my rehearsal dinner, or made the favors and the programs. I wake up before I have to go through with the wedding or event in my dream, but I always have this horrible feeling that everything isn’t going to come together.

I’m so glad that I’m not going crazy!! Two and a half months out from the wedding and I am having a nightmare about the wedding at least once or twice a week if not every other day. Some include me not planning enough so we’re having a t-shirt and jeans wedding at Walmart, bridesmaids backing out, no photographer…etc.

The funny thing is that I haven’t really been all that stressed out since I’m not uber particular. At least I’m marrying the perfect guy for me — still, it’s unsettling. It’s nice to know that it’s also fairly common among bride-to-bes.

Recently I have not been remembering my dreams. Does anyone have any tips on how to remember them?

Preparing and planning for a wedding can really be nerve wracking. This is common to almost all bride to be’s. The best thing to do on your special day is to just relax and enjoy every moment.

I think almost every bride experiences this. This is because of the stress of planning and getting scared that the wedding won’t be perfect. As a bride, we always dream of having the perfect wedding.

I have had the same nightmare 4 times now. It’s the same every time too. My fiance broke up with me (in the nightmare) and my nightmare is always after the breakup. The most recent nightmare, I was talking to my mom and I said, “Well, I guess I should take this off now….” since I was still wearing my engagement ring. I actually woke myself up crying from that one! :( I haven’t had any nightmares about the planning aspect.

Dreams can be a type of stress release, and they can also be prophetic.

The only way to really know which type of dream you are having, is to consult with a dream interpreter.

I would guess it is a stress dream, since it is close to your wedding :)
