Diamonds or Pearls?

February 13th, 2007 @ 4:26 pm by Mrs. Apple

I’ve been having trouble deciding on whether I want to wear diamonds or pearls on my wedding day. I love me some pearls but I’m worried it won’t match the detail on my wedding dress or my raspberry spotted guinea flora hairpin.

Does anyone have suggestions on what kind of jewelry I should wear? How about no jewelry and just keep it real simple. But if you look at my hair trial, I have no jewelry on…hmmm…not feeling that either.

Here’s a cropped photo of my dress detail.

Here’s a cropped photo of my flora hairpin.

Here’s a photo of my brooch - I’ll be pinning it on the lower back of my dress.

Please help if at all possible. :)

I think diamonds would look best, IMO.

The bodice of your dress makes me think pearls but that pin will defiantly be best with diamonds. Or you could always wear pearls during the ceremony and change into diamonds at the reception to spice it up a little.

I think peals will look best with your dress. It provides a nice contrast to your dress, since it looks sparkly. The pearls will provide a glow to your neckline.

My dress had crystal beading, but I wanted to wear my pearls so I did. I have two ear piercings in each ear, so I opted for pearls in the back and iridescent cz’s in the front. SO! If I were you, I would wear pearls and maybe mix it up with some diamondy earrings.

Diamonds…but i think simple is great too since you will have that red headpiece. it may clash if you wore jewelry and the hairpiece together… Show off the hairpiece on its own…it looks gorgeous!

here’s my experience:
i was going to wear diamond studs. i wore them for my bridal pictures and i didn’t think they photographed as well as the pearls did for my e-pics. i ended up wearing pearl studs for the ceremony and changing to cz chandelier ones for the reception. i was so happy that i saw the pics and realized i should wear pearls for the actual day.

Your dress is beautiful. I would love to see more. Aren’t you risking overdoing it, given that you have so many materials already: The broach, the embellishments on the dress, and the head piece. I probably wouldn’t introduce pearls into it.

i think i like diamonds more. if you wanted to add a little more sparkle to your hairpin, perhaps glue some Swarovski crystals :)

How about both, sort of? THis is my Swarovski necklace (kind of a small picture) and it had crystals and what I doubt are real pearls, but it’s absolutely gorgeous, and only $180 original. I thought it was a great choice for me…

I agree with gluing some Swarovski crystals into your hair piece. Then maybe just some diamond stud earrings.

That is a tough choice but I think I would go with crystal or diamond. It will give more sparkle. Just curious where did you get the brooch? It is gorgeous.

Hi Barbara! :) I’m all for simple pendants. Of course I’m biased ’cause that’s what I’m doing! But honestly it’s the perfect thing to keep it simple, without not wearing any jewelry at all.

I’m going to be a bit different with my suggestion. What if you found a dainty white seaglass necklace? Delicate, unique (like the hairpin)..

Hi Miss Apple,

After reviewing the details on your dress, you shall definitely go pearl … but it has to be quality pearl. I didn’t wear pearl for the wedding but for the bridal portrait I did and I should have worn the pearl on the day of the wedding.
