DIY Pocketfold Rave

February 13th, 2007 @ 11:14 am by Mrs. Hibiscus

Like many brides, I drooled over pocketfold invitations but cringed at the price tag that came along with it. I searched far and wide and then finally decided that if I wanted them, I would have to do it myself. At first the task of cutting all the paper and putting everything together gave me a headache. I’m horrible with a scoring knife and papercutters scare me.

Then, I saw a post on the knot saying to check out Cards and Pockets. They have everything precut for you. All you have to do is put it together. All of a sudden my pocketfold dreams became reality. I ordered my pocketfold folders, invitation mat and RSVP cards from Cards and Pockets. I bought the signature folder (5×7) and it’s the perfect size. They were great to work with and I received my order in less than a week.

I ended up ordering my invitation cardstock to layer over my invitation mat at Paper and More because I wanted a specific color. They did the custom cutting for me for $5, the cuts look clean and my order came in 3 business days. These two sites were the cheapest I could find and I have a half done mock up of my invite which I’m really happy with so far. I’ll show you all when I’m finished. If you’re looking to do DIY pocketfold invitations, check these sites out!

Miss Hibiscus, I am using the same two sites! The customer service from both Cards and Pockets and Paperandmore could not be better, in my opinion. They both responded very promptly to emailed questions, and when a sample I was interested in was out of stock, Cards and Pockets sent me a substitute that was more expensive. I live in the Bay Area which is near Paperandmore’s distribution, and I receive orders from them either the next business day or in two business days. Raves for both of them!

I have a great savings tip for anyone living in Seattle…Packaging Specialties in Seattle is offering 15% off total purchase if you bring in 4 toilet paper rolls (for a local women shelter). So I ordered my envelopments pockets. If you order more the 100 of those you get 10% off. I had a15% + 10% gave me a total of 25% off my pockets and a few other papers needed for my DIY invites. Just thought I would pass along the tip!
P.S. The 15% savings ends 2/28/07!

I’m another Laura with another question, do you know of anywhere there are instructions for putting together the pocketfold invitation? For some reason I thought there was a pocket for each card, but there isn’t, and now I need instructions for how it goes together. Any DIYers have good pictures of how they go together?

Another place that is great for the inserts is http://www.mountaincow.com. They have a great color selection too.
