It must be a popular time for this.

My e-ring is gone being engraved, since my wedding band is a 2/3 eternity and doesn’t have space for any engraving. I miss my precious.
Miss Plumeria and Bluebell–I feel your pain! I’m afraid when I go to class tomorrow the girl who sits next to me will notice my naked hand and wonder if something is amiss in the Blueberry household.
Since my e-ring band is pretty narrow, I can only fit a few characters on either side of the solitaire setting. So we’re getting “ego amo te” and “5.25.07″ on my ring (one phrase on either side of my solitaire setting) and “5.25.07 te amo” on Mr. Blueberry’s. Since his is a plain ol’ band he could fit a ton of words on there if he wanted to, but we wanted to keep it parallel.
Want to hear the story behind our engraving? OK I’ll tell you.
I’ve taken several years of Spanish, and frequently tell Mr. Blueberry “te amo,” which is Spanish for “I love you” (like you say to a person you’re in love with–it’s “te quiero” if you want to say you love reading, or cats, or salsa dancing, or whatever). Mr. Blueberry has taken just as many years of Latin and tells me “ego amo te” so that’s what we’re putting on my ring. So every time we look at our rings, we can imagine each other saying our special phrase for “I love you.” Aww…
At least it’s better than our other special phrase for “I love you”: “wubboo.” No, really. We say that. But we’re not quite sure it’s engraving-worthy. ![]()
Do you and your FI/DH/SO have a special phrase for “I love you”?
