Things To Pack

February 13th, 2007 @ 10:59 am by Mrs. Bee

I’m super obsessive, so I usually begin packing a couple weeks before a big trip because I don’t want to forget anything. I’m actually almost done - what can I say, I’m a freak. :P I have a couple of different “Things to Pack” excel checklists that I have saved. I thought you guys might find it handy, so I thought I’d share - things-to-pack.xls.

I’ve updated this form to include some things specific to our Costa Rica trip. Some notable things include:

  • First Aid Kit - The regular meds you use back home may be hard to find or expensive abroad. One thing I’d definitely pack is Imodium AD - it really works and you’ll thank me if you end up needing it!
  • Copies of Passport/Driver’s License - In case the originals get lost or stolen, you’ll have copies of your picture ID’s to obtain a new passport.

Happy packing!

I am a crazy packer too! I am so glad to hear it’s not just me. I pack at least a full day in advance and it takes me forever. I also have detailed lists in Excel so I don’t forget things. I am really absentminded so without my lists I am a disaster! Mr. Lily thinks I’m a freak.

Mrs. Bee– something ironic you should know: the Costa Rica government suggests that you make a copy of your passport to have in case you don’t want to carry your passport everywhere you go. However, not only will it not ’stand up in court’ (aka do you any good if your bus gets stopped by a police roadblock), but it’s actually illegal to make a copy of your passport. If you bring your copy to the US Embassy (in the event that your passport gets stolen or ::ahem:: lost–not that I have any personal experience with that…right…), you will get in trouble. So making a copy is kind of a mixed bag.
