Beehive

In today’s hive:

  • Emily wants to know if anyone has been to any of the Sandals resorts, particularly the one in the Bahamas. Is an all-inclusive resort worth it?
  • Laura is thinking of giving frosted class coasters that are also frames as favors. They come packaged in pairs, but should she give 1 to each guest or a pair? If she gives one, she has to package/decorate them herself.
  • lisabaobei is looking for a bridal tiara/comb that looks similar to this. She saw a similar one at Kleinfelds for over $500. She loves the tight details of crystals/pearls. Any idea where she can find one for under $150 either online or in the NYC area?

Emily- my BF’s brother just went to Sandals in the Bahamas for their honeymoon in September, now of course this isn’t a firsthand experience, but they absolutely loved it- they said the bartenders, waiters/ waitresses were all really nice, it only rained on one day of their honeymoon, the food was incredible- they were always so full- the dishes kept coming, and the pictures were gorgeous! Hope this helps a little bit

my husband and i went to an all inclusive resort (it was a palace resort though) and having everything be all inclusive saved us a lot of stress and money (i think)..so i think all inclusives are great…you can spend more time just being with each other rather than having to worry about where to go for dinner!

laura - if you can afford to, i’d give a pair to each guest/couple. i feel like coasters should at least come as a set, it would seem a little weird to have one coaster. but maybe that’s just me and my insane obsession with symmetry.

Emily - it really depends on what you plan to do while you’re there. The FI and I did the all inclusive at the Radisson resort in the bahamas last year, which was just down the road from Sandals. Since we were really there for the resort’s private beach, the unlimited food and drinks was a great thing to have. We went again a few weeks ago and spent most of our time going into the town and visiting other areas, but didn’t do the all inclusive since it wouldn’t benefit us this time around. I hear Sandals is particularly good for couples since they don’t allow anyone under 18. Hope this helps!

Lisa - have you looked at swarovski? It might not be close enough to the comb in the link, but they strike me as similar. Also they are not too expensive, more or less. Some cost more than others. Just thought you might have a look!

I’ve never been to a Sandal’s all inclusive but they seem kind of cheesey to me. Aren’t the meals all buffet style? They just don’t seem all that romantic to me, but of course that’s just my taste and preference.

And if I remember correctly, I also heard some of the Sandals resorts in St Lucia have rat infestations from all the room service trays that are left outdoors? Not sure about others.

lisabaobei,
Try http://www.veilshop.com. They have a bunch of combs and tiaras for a decent price…occasionally you may come across some of their items on ebay….I’ve come across items that are easily $10 or more less on ebay than on their website. Good Luck!

lisabaobei,
Check out http://www.headpieceheaven.com This woman designs tiaras, jewelry, veils, etc to your specification. You can even choose the beads/pearls yourself. If she doesn’t have the design on her site I’m sure she’d be able to make it. I don’t think it’s that expensive either.

Laura, I’d give one to each person, it never occurred to me that coasters are supposed to come in pairs. or packaging won’t be hard~ a pretty ribbon and you’re done! Or if you want to stretch a budget a bit, how bout 1 pack per couple?

We did sandals St. Lucia.

http://www.Tripadvisor.com has the best information - most truthful and realistic descriptions of the place.
If you balance the “amazing” reviews with some of the not so great ones, you can usually figure out what to expect.
