Random Inspiration

February 15th, 2007 @ 1:47 pm by Mrs. Emerald

While registering at Crate and Barrel over the weekend, they had a fresh flower arrangement that I absolutely went GA-GA over. I kicked myself for not having my digicam in my purse as usual, but then YAY for cell phone cameras! This was the first time I emailed a pic from my cell phone, but I am really surprised at how decent the quality is!

Anyways, I love the elegance of calla lillies, and think that something like this will work really well as a tall centerpiece (just one arrangement per table, not two like below). Hopefully this will be rather cost effective too, considering that it only requires 5 callas, plus some lilly grass, ti leaves and pebbles! I’m sure the most expensive part will be the vase rental, yuck. whateva I sent this pic to my florist yesterday (silly me, forgot that V-day is super busy for florists) for her to guesstimate the cost.

However, I’d like to use red callas like this, although I’m not sure if it comes in only the mini size or also the full size calla.

that’s beautiful and I hope it works out! It might also be cheaper to buy the vases from crate and barrel (especially when they have one of their seasonal clearances) than try to rent from the florist. from my experience, florist rentals can be very pricey and it’s worthwhile to try to find vases elsewhere.

those are somewhat like my planned centerpieces. i’m adding lucky bamboo to it. i got my vases at Sam’s Club…like a cosco’s wholesale place. 9″ square vase i think $3 and change!

I LOVE those! I had something similar in mind in my head for what I would like for my centerpieces, so thanks so much for posting the picture because now I’ll actually have something concrete to show the florist. I think they would like spectacular at our wedding — black and white, black-tie encouraged, and the ceilings are REALLY tall so we were looking for some kind of tall centerpiece. Beautiful!
Good luck with getting something similar for your wedding — from the other comments, it sounds like it might be a better idea to buy the vases. Try Craigslist for your city — at least here in D.C., there are always lots of people posting vases, candlesticks, etc. after their weddings, and usually they are sold for pretty cheap.

HAHA! Ladies, my cellphone is a
LG VX8600, its the Chocolate flip phone version. I LOVE it! Its as slim as a RAZR, but sleeker and shinier. It also has a TON of capabilities- mp3 player, video cam, etc, but honestly I only know how to use it as a cell phone. =T I should browse the manual!
