Valentined Out

February 15th, 2007 @ 9:54 pm by Mrs. Bee

By now you might be a little Valentined out. So I promise this is the last time I mention Valentine’s Day, and I’ll keep it short. :)

Mr. Bee and I went to La Lanterna di Vittorio, an adorable Italian restaurant in the Village, for dinner last night. It was so cozy, romantic, and quintessentially New York. The Jonathan Kreisberg Jazz Trio offered a special performance throughout dinner - and they were really great! The food was good, the music was good, service was a little slow since it was so busy… but still good. Highly recommended for natives and tourists alike.

What are some of the most romantic restaurants you’ve ever been to?

So many restaurants are so open, I love the privacy of some of the little nooks in Melting Pot. Other favorites are Shadowbrook in Capitola and Hacienda San Lucas in Honduras. I will probably have another to add tomorrow night since we’re going out for Valentine’s to the Montecito Country Club.

Probably a truely authentic French restaurant in Los Angeles. It was about 6 years ago so I don’t remember the name. My Aunt and Uncle took me there for dinner and it was really good..when I mean French I mean, white tablecloths, candle light dinner, servers with white gloves, french decor, the French owners came by and greeted us. And I think it was the very first time I had foie gras. It was a true dining experience for me.

Firefly restaurant in SF.

Chart House in Monterey Bay.

Domaine Chandon in Napa.

Ocean House Restaurant in Oahu. Oceanside dining. The most romantic in my opinion.

OH MY GOD!! Mrs. Bee - La Lanterna is our FAVORITE PLACE!!!! We’ve been going there for years and love it. In fact we went there after we got engaged. I hope you’ve had the tirimisu there. Vittorio’s mother gets up MAD EARLY every morning to make it fresh.

Was the fireplace going? That’s probably our favorite part!

That’s so funny, Johnathan Kreisberg used to be my “I run into you all the time at the coffee shop” person before I got engaged and stopped being a coffee shop fly since FH doesn’t drink caffeine. If I ever see him again I’ll have to tell him he was on Weddingbee! ha ha!

Hubby and I love La Lanterna too. Great food and such a romantic ambiance. Oh and they have the best hazelnut gelatto.

I was going to say the Melting Pot also. Not the best food I’ve ever had, but it’s a great date place because you get your own little private booth, and you have an activity to do together (cooking the food). We’ve gone their for our birthdays, hopefully the wedding won’t bankrupt us so much we can’t go again this year.

the most beautiful and romantic place I’ve ever eaten at is the Dirty Duck Diner in Ubud, Bali. Its out in a rice patty with lots of little pagodas on stilts and nooks and crannies to hide away in. If you ever have a chance, definately go there!
